Good Morning,
Wow! These six weeks flew by. As we go into our last week, Laura and I wanted to share some great progress we have
heard and seen in our classes this session. A parent in Laura's class told her after class that her and her baby are using the songs from class at home. She also said that she channels her "inner Laura" to help calm her baby. This mom also noted that she is much more comfortable in class, and her little one is all smiles in music. I noticed that in my Sprouting Melodies 3 class, so many children are singing the songs with me and exploring themselves through singing. They are demonstrating their trust of the musical space and independence. I pointed out after class last week that one child in particular was very comfortable singing in class, and her grandmother shared that she sings all the time at home with her, but her granddaughter initiates it! In both of our Sprouting Melodies 2 classes, we have seen an increase in trust. Those first few weeks, most of your children sat in your lap and watched in awe as they took everything in. Now we see them crawling or walking around the music space, exploring instruments and how they make sound, and interacting with other children in the group. All of this progress comes from repetition, consistency, and trust. As you may have seen on the news this week, many news channels are talking about how these recent snow days negatively affect children's learning because the momentum is interrupted, and the predictability of routines, which children need to learn, becomes unpredictable. Keep the momentum going! We hope to see you next session, and don't forget to take advantage of the early bird special. I'll see you in class! ~Kristina Kristina Barbo, MT-BC Board Certified Music Therapist Roman Music Therapy Services, LLC 423 Main St., Melrose, MA 02176 781-665-0700 Office kristina@romanmusictherapy.com www.romanmusictherapy.com
