Something's A Little Bit Different                                        January 12, 2015

Good Morning,

Welcome to Sprouting Melodies, Winter Session I!  We are glad to see several familiar faces, and new ones as well.

With the new session brings new people, music, instruments, and new opportunities for growth. Young children rely on predictability, safety, and trust to grow and thrive in their environment. You may have noticed some shyness this past week from your child. Whether it is your first time at our center, it is your first time with a new Sprouting Melodies Provider, or because of the two week break for the holiday's, it is typical for young children to need time for transition into the new, and trust in the familiar.

Below is a song written by Elizabeth Schwartz, MT-BC, co-founder of Raising Harmony and Sprouting Melodies.  This song is a wonderful tool for helping your child grow note by note and understand that some things are different, but some things stay the same.  There is growth and opportunity in the new, but also there is trust and comfort in the familiar.

If you are interested in more information about young children and why routines are integral to their development, check out this article on ZeroToThree.org. This organization has a lot of great information on early childhood development.

I'll see you in class!

~Kristina
