Rounding the Home Turn
Message from Dean Ira A. Jackson
May 2015

Did you watch the Kentucky Derby last weekend?  It's a rite of spring that I look forward to every year.

At the McCormack Graduate School, we are "rounding the home turn" on another semester. Classes end in less than two weeks. Students and professors prepare for final exams and then we trot off to Commencement on May 29.

More than 100 McCormack students will be at the winner's circle ...

Beacons Award Winners
Kudos to our International Relations classmates Parfait Gasana and Wade Cedar who earned a UMass Boston Beacon for Global Inclusion Award earlier this week.
The pair was honored for their work creating an English-language children's library and literacy center in Kigali, Rwanda, Gasana's native land.

According to Dean Ira A. Jackson who nominated the pair, "I cannot think of two graduate students more deserving of a Beacon's Leadership Award. They are passionate and committed to social justice and personify the best of UMass Boston leadership in the global community."

Learn more about their work.
