Message from MGS Acting Dean

We're well into the New England autumn, the most beautiful season of the year. Summer's green leaves have brilliantly transformed into fall's crimson, orange, and gold foliage.

And it's been an active election season, too - full of political ads, televised debates, and pundit analyses.

In the spirit of political discourse and discussion, our policy school has been very involved in furthering our political education. In October, our Gerontology Institute co-sponsored an engaging lecture on "Women: Your Power, Your Issues, Your Election"with Representative Alice K. Wolf at the JFK Library. That same evening, our Center for Social Policy celebrated 20 years reshaping poverty policy, honoring Congressman Barney Frank and others for their leadership in economic and social justice.  On October 23, our Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy hosted author and DC journalist Linda Killian who led an exciting dialogue on the untapped power of the independent voter in the upcoming election.

We also hosted a very successful Ninth Biennial Graduate Student Conference, "Conflict Resolution: The New Generation of Ideas" in October. On November 2 and 3rd, we were the proud host of the annual regional Northeast Conference on Public Administration (NECoPA) "Public Administration in a Time of Change".

There's more to come this fall.  We invite you to attend our many upcoming conferences, guest lectures, and special events at McCormack Graduate School.

And we are always seeking new applicants for our graduate programs.  I urge you to invite potential students to come and find out about McCormack graduate programs at  the university Graduate Open House on Wednesday, November 14 from 4:30-7p.m. in the Campus Center.  We will also host a recruitment lunch showcasing our graduate programs at the MA State House Grand Staircase on Tuesday, November 27 from noon - 2p.m.

Finally, save the date: We'll hold our Annual McCormack Holiday and Alumni Networking Event at the University Club, Downtown, on Thursday, December 20 at 6 p.m.

Best regards,

Connie Signature
