The Sedona Heritage Museum hosts Living History on Wednesday, May 8 at 10:00 am. "Prehistoric Heritage of Mata Ortiz Pottery" will feature archeologist John Bezy. Mata Ortiz pottery has evolved from imitating pre-Hispanic designs to contemporary expressions. Master ceramicist and artist Oralia Lopez will show and sell her original pottery after the presentation at Mexico prices. Free event and open to the public. Museum is located at 735 Jordan Road. May 8: OLLI Lunch and Learn
Learn about your amazing neighbors, the ravens, at OLLI's Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, May 8, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Yavapai College's Sedona campus. Diane Phelps Budden, author of Shade; a Story About a Very Smart Raven, which was recently featured on NPR's "All Things Considered'", will speak. May 10: ImagiVenture Invites You to GUNS/Children Opening Reception
Join artists for a preview of the GUNS/Children Exhibition, delectable bites, beverages, and provocative performances by Kayt Perlman's spoken word group, Nancy Robb Dunst in a two-minute humorous installation-piece, and drummer Vusi Baba Shibambo. The evening will feature the unveiling of ImagiVenture's first fine art poster by Sedona artist Mary Helsaple and the awarding of Best in Show, judged and presented by renowned Phoenix-based artist, and philanthropist Robert Miley. May 11: National Train Day at Grand Canyon Railway
Come and ride the Cataract Creek Rambler this Saturday, May 11 for just $15 for adults and $10 for children. The Sedona International Film Festival presents Ballet in Cinema on Monday, May 13 when it hosts the big screen premiere of "Ballet's Greatest Hits". There will be one show at 4:00 pm at the festival's Mary D. Fisher Theatre. "Ballet's Greatest Hits" presents a one-of-a-kind glimpse of ballet from today and yesterday. On Saturday, May 18, the Sedona Elks Lodge is holding a car show (pre-1980's) at 3:30 pm, a barbeque on the patio at 5:30 pm, and a dance from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. May 19: Howard Hawk Memorial Golf Tournament
The Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks is hosting the 13th Annual Howard Hawk Memorial Golf Tournament on Sunday, May 19 at the Sedona Golf Resort. This annual outing will support the club's mission of supporting local children's charities. The cost to participate is $125 per person for greens fees. The Sedona Film School (SFS) will be hosting the 13th Annual SFS Shorts Film Festival on May 24 - 26, and will feature nearly 50 short films. The SFS thesis films range from a superhero that has to go into therapy to a documentary about the red sea urchin business off the coast of California. There is truly something for everyone!
