Pink Jeep Offers R.O.C.K.S. Program

Pink Jeep Tours is offering the R.O.C.K.S. Program, Reinforcing Our Children's Knowledge of Sedona, once again to area fourth graders. The Verde Valley Christian School was first on the list last Friday and Big Park School, Sedona Charter School and many more will share the experience in the month of February. February 5 & 7: Film Festival presents Live from New York's 92nd Street Y 

New York's famous 92nd Street Y comes to Sedona on February 5 and 7 when the Sedona International Film Festival hosts the live simulcast of programs and discussions with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor (Tuesday, Feb. 5) and the Lemba Jews of Zimbabwe (Thursday, Feb. 7) at the festival's Mary D. February 9: Lunar New Year celebrates "Year of the Snake"

February 11: Annual Oxfam Hunger Banquet and Raffle

Verde Valley School holds its Annual Oxfam Hunger Banquet and Raffle on Monday, February 11 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Brady Hall. 100% of the proceeds will make education possible for children in Malawi, Africa and benefit the Cornville Food Bank.  Open to the public; tickets are $10.  Raffles are $5 each, or 5 for $20 - don't need to be present to win.  Contact Caroline Diehl, MDG Program Director, carolined@vvsaz.org, (928) 231-0086. February 13: Take Note Cottonwood: Cardiovascular Research in the Verde Valley

Cardiovascular Research in the Verde Valleyis the topic of theFebruary Take Note Cottonwood Lecture Series, sponsored by Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC).The Wednesday, Feb. 13, lecture will feature intervention cardiologist Samuel Butman, M.D., M.H.A., F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I. February 13: Living History  

The Sedona Heritage Museum hosts Living History on Wednesday, February 13 at 10:00 am.  

"Songs for the Soul as the Highway Rolls" with Cornville songwriter and performer Dan Engler will be a look inside the origins of Folk music. Engler will perform his original storytelling songs and talk to the audience about Folk music. Enjoy this unusual history-based show.  Afterwards, meet the speaker.  Free admission and refreshments. February 15: Lynne Leakey Presents Free African Safari Slide Show

Lynne Leakey, who will guide a Yavapai College EDventures tour to Kenya later this year, will deliver a free presentation of her extensive African experiences on Friday, February 15, 1:00 pm in Room 28 of the Sedona Center for Arts & Technology, 4215 Arts Village Drive in Sedona. March 16: Calling for entries in ST. PATRICK'S PARADE
Join in the 43rd Annual St. Patrick's Parade & Festival on March 16. Become a sponsor or enter in the parade. Entry forms are being mailed to prior participants and can be printed from

March 21: Citizens Academy  

Would you like to better understand City operations and issues? The Academy begins on Thursday, March 21. It runs for 7 weeks every Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at City Hall. This free program is open to City residents who are 16 years and older. Class size is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. For an application visit SedonaAZ.gov/citizensacademy. The deadline is Friday, February 15.

 

April 4-6: Oak Creek Canyon Tours by Sedona Heritage Museum
Tours of Oak Creek Canyon's historic places by the Sedona Heritage Museum are set for April 4, 5, and 6.  Paul Thompson, grandson of Jim Thompson, Sedona's first Anglo settler, will narrate.  Visit homestead sites and other historic locations including Cave Springs and Thompson's springhouse. Tours depart at 9:00 am and end at 12:00 pm. Tickets $50 for Museum members, $55 for non-members. Call the Museum, (928) 282-7038.

 

April 11: Save the Date

The Verde River Basin Partnership invites you to save the date for the highly anticipated release of the USGS model-based report on the human effects on the Verde Valley's groundwater and surface-water systems, 1910-2110. Thursday, April 11, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in the Verde Valley. VIP seating is available for Government Officials, media, and community leaders. Please email  info@vrbp.org to reserve your seat. April 27-28: The Sedona Miracle Returns!

The Sedona 30 proudly announces the return of the Sedona Miracle, a Celebration of Philanthropy, benefitting the greater Sedona area on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28. The Sedona 30 aims to double their educational contribution to the Sedona community this year with the Sedona Miracle event at Los Abrigados Resort & Spa, Saturday, April 27.
