Mt. Bethel UMC

 May 25, 2014

Randy This Memorial Day weekend, we remember a most special segment of our population, our elderly veterans. Last Sunday, we recognized our World War II veterans with a powerful Patriotic Concert, focusing on the sacrifices made on our behalf by this "Greatest Generation." The simple truth is, there is no way to adequately express our gratitude for their sacrifice.

Perhaps, there is a way to help "pass it along." Wesley Woods is a United Methodist ministry, with nine different locations, offering residential services, health care, rehabilitation and nursing home care and specialized care for conditions like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. It serves over 1,500 older adults in their residential campuses. The average age of their residents is 82. A great many of them are veterans and their spouses. Fifty percent of the residents in the low-income communities live on less than $11,670 per year.

Wesley Woods provides this valuable ministry with the help of the North Georgia Conference. Once a year, each Methodist Church within the Conference receives a special offering to help offset the expenses of this assisted living ministry. If you wish to participate in this "love offering," allowing these members of the Greatest Generation to age with grace, mark your checks accordingly, to Mt. Bethel "for Wesley Woods."

May God bless all of our veterans, as we remember those who made the supreme sacrifice. "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13.

On another note, last Sunday's "Spirit of America, Turn the Radio On" concert was one of the finest we have ever seen and heard! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us. Our entire community was blessed with the music and remembrances. Thanks for reminding us why America is so special.

God Bless You,

Randy Mickler

Senior Pastor

Our Faithfulness

Offerings Received last week $130,559

Offerings this fiscal year $3,539,865

Budget offerings needed to date $3,567,846

As vacation season approaches, our ministries and facilities continue to operate. If you are unable to attend worship services, please consider using online giving at mtbethel.org or automatic BillPay through your bank for your contributions to the church. Typically our summer offerings do not meet our operating expenses, and level giving would help offset this shortfall. Thank you for your consideration!
