A New Focus

We make a huge mistake when we fail to consider the greatness of God. He is far greater and more powerful than our wildest imaginations. Creation gives us a glimpse of His awesome power. The Bible tells us that God merely spoke a word and all the stars were flung into space.

Have you ever considered the size of this universe? While sitting in a doctor's office last week, I read an article that said the first astronomer, Ptolemy, counted 1,056 stars. With the magnification of a one-inch telescope, we can see 225,000 stars. A 100-inch telescope enables us to see 1.5 billion stars and with a 200-inch telescope, we can see a billion galaxies, each with about 100 billion stars. The Hubble telescope has enabled astronomers to see 100 billion galaxies. The perspective is this: 100 billion stars in each of 100 billion galaxies is roughly equal to the number of grains of sand on every shore on every beach throughout the entire world!

Now for the application of all this "knowledge": Our trust in God is a reflection of our understanding of His greatness and love! When you come upon roadblocks and disappointments in life, how do you respond? Have you ever considered the fact that much of our New Testament was written from a jail cell? Paul could have easily thrown in the towel, become angry and frustrated, but instead he focused upon God's greatness and grace, ability and willingness . . . and delved into the mystery of Christ, producing most of the New Testament. He is not the exception, just one example out of billions (like the stars!).

We all face challenging, troubling issues and none of them, nor all of them combined, can match the greatness of God! May His greatness and grace be your focus, and reassurance in your journey through this life . . . regardless of the challenges.

God Bless You & Keep Focusing!
