We Are Soaring!

Last Sunday, Mt. Bethel's Church Conference heard reports from the Finance Committee and Sub-Committee regarding the purchase of "Mt. Bethel North." Our District Superintendent, Dr. Jim Lowry, led the Conference. The motion was made, after a very thorough presentation, to purchase the 33 acres of land and renovate the existing classrooms and other buildings for the purpose of establishing the only Christ-centered High School in East Cobb. The Church Conference responded, voting almost unanimously, to move forward immediately with the purchase and construction. The Mt. Bethel Christian High School, to be located on the Mt. Bethel North property, will be open for business by August 2014! Hopefully, our Recreational Ministries will be operating at Mt. Bethel North by this summer! [View pictures]

This bold step-of-faith would never have become a reality without the faithful and determined efforts of two of Mt. Bethel's finest leaders: Ferrell Coppedge and Jim Ney. Their negotiating and professional skills played a large role in winning the approval required by the Zoning Board and financial institutions. Their wise counsel and patient persistence truly won the day when most would have given up. The words, "thank you" do not in any manner express the heartfelt debt of gratitude Mt. Bethel feels for their tireless efforts. We also greatly appreciate their wonderful wives, Libby Coppedge and Carol Ney, for tolerating the absence of their husbands so often this past year!

Our next step is to form a committee, comprised of staff and laity, to orchestrate the use of Mt. Bethel North. Randy Hudon will lead the committee and volunteers are welcome!

Finally, our Spring Revival begins this Sunday, March 9, with our friend Dr. Walter Kimbrough leading us. As you remember, Walter led us last year in a most outstanding spiritual renewal! Please be with us each night (Sunday through Tuesday) at 6:30. Nurseries provided. Join us for dinner at 5:00 on Monday and Tuesday. We are in store for a great week!

God Bless You,

Randy Mickler

Senior Pastor

P.S. Thank you for deciding as a church to "soar with the eagles" rather than "scratch with the chickens!"
