New Bible Study Facilitated by Mt. Bethel Ministers

Learn more about Scripture and how it applies to your life. Our pastors will rotate leading us through different books of the Bible. The first study will be lead by Rev. Kelly Brumbeloe on the book of Mark. This study will run six weeks, and then another study will begin immediately following it. Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Open House

 

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy extends a warm welcome to all church members and to their friends and neighbors to attend an Open House on Sunday, January 12 at 3:00 pm in the MBUMC Sanctuary. Following a brief presentation, classrooms will be open and teachers available to answer questions. Administrative staff, parents, and students will also be available to conduct tours.

 

Applications are now being accepted for the 2014-2015 school year. If you are unable to attend Open House, please join us any Wednesday morning at 10am for a school tour.

Priorities: A New Sermon Series & Three-week Seminar  

There will be a church-wide sermon series and seminar addressing three main topics: your time, your stuff, and your communication. We'll be talking about how to make Christ the center of our families by following Biblical principles in these areas of our lives.

Career Ministry Meeting | Tuesday, January 14 | 6:30-8pm | MB Community Center  

Experienced Human Resources professionals give one-on-one attention to each job seeker and will cover any topic which relates to job search strategy. Depending on each person's individual needs, we will discuss employment branding/resume, using technology (job boards), LinkedIn, interviewing tips and any other relevant topics. An evening featuring church members and staff performing

musical hits from the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. This event promises to be a fun and entertaining evening while benefitting our student choir.

 

 

  

 

A Knight with Mom

Saturday, February 8 | 6-8pm | $30 for Mother/Son couple; $5 for each additional child | Tickets available online or in the Bookstore

Moms with sons, it's your turn for a fun night! Join us for "A Knight with Mom." Dress your best and bring your son for desserts and dancing.

For one weekend [February 20-23] students from all over East Cobb will come to Mt. Bethel for DNOW. Be a part of this huge and impactful event! Register to be a host home. 

 

  

 

Mother and Child Survival Project

Mt. Bethel Children's Sunday school will be starting a mission project, "Mother and Child Survival project." The children will make and take home collection cups and a letter to parents on January 12. There will be a competition between grades and big collection buckets out on Sundays, January 19-February 23.This is a project through the United Methodist Committee on Relief - the mission arm of the United Methodist Church. 

 

Special Olympics Winter Games

Adult and teen volunteers are needed to serve on Saturday, January 25, at the Special Olympics Winter games held in Cobb County. Please contact Kim McGarr for volunteer information.

 

Volunteer Needs

Start off 2014 with a new commitment to serve at Mt. Bethel on Sunday mornings. We are in need of volunteers in several areas: Sunday Morning Breakfast Cashiers, Parking Ushers and Tram Drivers, Sunday Morning Receptionist, and Ushers and Greeters. Contact Kibbie Parish to get more information or to volunteer for one or all of these areas.

Grief Support Groups

The next Grief Support Group begins Wednesday, January 15, at 6:30pm in the Bride's Room. This group will meet for nine weeks and is open to everyone. If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Wil Parker at 678-485-9565.

 

Altar Flowers

If you would like to reserve the altar flowers in the Sanctuary in honor or in memory of someone, please contact Debi Wyatt at 678-560-2437. The arrangements are $60 each or $120 for both.

 

 

Our Joys & Concerns

The rosebud on the altar is in honor of the birth of Logan Anderson McMichael, daughter of Robert & Dina McMichael, on January 4, 2014.

 

We extend Christian sympathy to Andy, Anne & Zoe Altizer in the loss of Andy's father, Jack Altizer; and to Caitlin & Savannah Perdue in the loss of their father, Keith Perdue. May God hold you in the palm of His hand during this time of grief.
