Mt. Bethel and Auburn

Auburn's Head Coach, Gus Malzahn, told reporters following the Georgia game that he thought his team was "blessed." There's no doubt of that after the Alabama game, and Ohio State's losing. It appears that the good Lord is pushing those War Eagles down the field in miraculous ways!

Now, I'm not complaining (much!) because it appears that the Good Lord is also pushing Mt. Bethel "down the field in miraculous ways!" Granted, His blessing Mt. Bethel is not a surprise. He has blessed Mt. Bethel to be a blessing in miraculous ways since 1840. Well, He's doing it again!

Last spring, Mt. Bethel began its stewardship campaign. For several reasons, we never moved very far in meeting our stewardship goals. After several months of soft-pedaling our needs, we had only pledged two-thirds of our needed budget. Our finance committee decided that was simply unacceptable and scrapped the whole effort. The decision was made to begin a new stewardship emphasis in September. Our operating budget needs to be at least $10 million. I am so delighted and grateful to report to you that our projected income for 2014 is currently hovering at $9.7 million. That's an amazing turnaround!

Now, we are not there yet, but, like Auburn, we are in the game! Currently, 51% of our membership has not returned commitment cards. Just think, if everyone pitched in; we could become "Champions" for Christ. The simple rule for Auburn's success appears to be "improve with each game." Now they could win it all!

It's the same with Mt. Bethel! If we all do our part in stewardship, we can make 2014 a championship year for the Lord! Please return your commitment card today!

Randy

P.S. For the record, I think the Lord loves the Seminoles too!

Continuing to Make a Difference

So far this year, over 100 Adults have joined Mt. Bethel on profession of faith - 100! That is an amazing number. One hundred people have committed their lives to follow Jesus Christ. In the secular world in which we live, that is an inspiring number. Mt Bethel is making a difference in the lives of people and bringing them into a relationship with Jesus and making disciples; that is what we do! That is what we are about.

We are now in the sixth week of our stewardship season. We are making progress toward our goal of $10,000,000 in pledges. So far 1,240 individuals and families (giving entities) out of a total of 2,679 have turned in their commitment cards. We cannot be content; we can't pat ourselves on the back. We must follow God's vision for Mt. Bethel. Pray for God's guidance and strength to make a faith commitment. Remember the 100 lives that have been changed and the countless other lives that are waiting to be brought to Jesus. Mt. Bethel must continue its outreach. Join us!  Return your commitment card or email us today!

End-of-the-Year Giving: Please remember, for income tax purposes, charitable contributions must be claimed in the year they are delivered. One exception is a check mailed to Mt. Bethel; it is deductible in the year the check is mailed (postmarked), even if it is received early in the next year. Also remember, if you plan to drop off end-of-year contributions, the church offices will be closed on December 24, 25, and 26. If you would like to donate stock or other securities to Mt. Bethel, please go online and click on the GIVE button and follow the prompts. There, you will find a form to use for transferring stock to Mt. Bethel. After completing the form, give it to your account representative for your stock/securities transfers. Please e-mail Sharon Wyland or call 678-560-7462 to let Sharon know the name and amount of the stock you are transferring to Mt. Bethel. To take IRS deductions for securities donations, please make sure these donations are made at least ten days prior to the end of the year. If you have questions, please call Sharon Wyland at 678-560-7462.
