"Act According to Your Belief"

Mt. Bethel's Administrative Council voted unanimously to return to the calendar year financially speaking. Regarding the church's finances, our operating budget will begin January 1 and conclude December 31. The Council also voted to accept the Finance Committee's recommendation to not accept a proposed budget for the time period of July 1 through December 31. Rather, we will continue the previous 2012-2013 fiscal budget.

The Council also voted to re-pledge the operating budget for 2014 this October. There are several reasons for this decision, the predominate factor is the poor stewardship response to the budget presented in March, April and May.

It was discussed that Mt. Bethel's challenge regarding faithful stewardship is not a financial one, rather, it's a spiritual issue. Too many of our members treat their responsibilities to Jesus through Mt. Bethel with their "prayers, presence, gifts and service" as an afterthought. We have steadily grown in membership and declined in stewardship. The Book of James tells us to be careful to practice what we know. In other words, if you know it, then do it! James 1.22 - "Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."

Do you believe God wants us to be tithers? Do you do it? Do you believe we must serve Christ with our lives? Where do you serve? Do you believe that people need Christ to go to heaven? Do you tell them about it? The reality is that we only truly believe the parts of the Bible that we do. Make a list of the things you believe in. Are you doing those things?

Hopefully, Mt. Bethel's poor performance in stewardship will soon be corrected. Ask God to guide you and your family in the vow you made when you joined Mt. Bethel. Remember? "Yes, I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and will be faithful to Him through Mt. Bethel with my prayers, presence, gifts and service." It's time to put what we profess into action!

Bethel student through daily prayer, please contact kibbie.jones@mtbethel.org
