Our Joys & Concerns

The altar flowers are given to the Glory of God and in honor of our graduates and all the teachers who made their graduation possible.

The Paschal Candle burns in honor of the baptism of Emma Jane Hinson, daughter of Ben & Katie Hinson.

We extend Christian sympathy to Hermann & Marcia Baxter in the loss of Marcia's mother, Agnes Ruff. May God hold you in the palm of His hand during this time of grief.

Join us this Sunday, May 19, at 5pm in the Sanctuary, for IN GOD WE TRUST, our Spirit of America concert, presented by our Chancel Choir and very special guests, VERITAS!  VERITAS, a sensational five-member male vocal group, and the Chancel Choir will present a powerful and moving musical and visual experience. Bring your family and invite your neighbors to join us in celebrating this great "Nation Under God!"  Proudly wear your red, white, and blue (Veterans are encouraged to wear uniforms), and be sure to stay for an American tradition - an ice cream and hot dog social. This will be a fun evening that you don't want to miss!

June VBS is around the corner! Everywhere Fun Fair where God's World comes together! June 10-13 from 12:30-3:30pm. Join us as we teach the children about God's World. We have several opportunities to teach the children in Recreation, Discovery (science experiment), Crafts and crew leaders. As followers of Christ we are called to make disciples. Please take this opportunity to teach the children with us in Children's Ministry. Adults, Grandparents, parents, teens... we can use you all! Special Needs will meet at 9:30 only beginning May 26 through August 4, and will return to our regular schedule on Sunday Aug 11 - meeting at both 9:30 & 11am in F002.

 

AARP Driver Safety Training | May 28, 9:00am-4:00pm | B-118. Tune up your driving skills and update your knowledge of the rules of the road, as well as learn defensive driving techniques. This course may qualify you for a multi-year insurance discount. Cost is $12 for AARP members /$14 for non-members, payable the day of class to the instructor. MUST Summer Sack Lunch program is looking for groups who would like to make lunches for children living in poverty in Cobb County.  Mt. Bethel UMC provides the supplies and the facility set up--you provide the volunteers to make the lunches and deliver them to a nearby MUST drop off location!  Contact Patti Turner, pturnerewt@gmail.com for details.

   
Summer Volunteer opportunity for Rising 9-12 grades. Children's Ministry  at Mt. Bethel will need  80 plus high school students to help us with our Kingdom Rock - A Family Revival: Where Families Stand Strong for God.  This new adventure is Sunday through Wednesday nights July 7-10 from 6:00-8:30PM.  There will be a variety of opportunities to serve. This event is taking the place of our July VBS program.  You will receive volunteer hours if you need them. Young Adult/College Ministry

Bible study and dinner at Gaylyn Kelly's house every Tuesday night. We are currently going through the book of Acts.

Recreation Ministry  

20th Annual Thompson-Sheffield Co-ed Softball Tournament was a huge success, raising close to $13,000 for the Recreation Ministry. 

We would like to give a big thank you to all who sponsored, volunteered and participated. Congratulations to the Staff Team for winning the tournament.

 

Youth Fall Sports:  We are now registering for fall sports. Register online at mtbethel.org/sportsregistration. We offer Prek t-ball and soccer (must be 4 by Sept. 1, 2013), boys and girls soccer (K-6th), boys flag football (1st - 7th), boys baseball (K-3rd), girls volleyball (4th - 8th).

 

Youth Spring Sports:  Final games and pizza parties are this week with the season ending Saturday, May 18. Come to the CAC after your final game of the season for pizza and awards presentations. We hope you had a great season.

Fitness:  We offer classes in boot camp, barre, Zumba, body sculpting, weights, cardio, yoga, pilates and more. We have great instructors and lots of fun. Women's Ministry

Summer Women's Bible Study - Women, you are invited to join Millie Atkinson and Genia Crane on Wednesday mornings in June for a Bible study on living counter-culturally.  Millie and Genia will use scripture to discuss how to live out your Christian values in a secular world.  The study will meet in B118 at 10am beginning June 5.
