Randy                    "Your Christmas List"
An unforgettable part of the Christmas story in the Gospel of Matthew is the record of the first Christmas gifts. When the Wise Men found the Christ Child, they opened their treasure and gave gifts. The first Christmas gifts were given to Christ. So often today, we give gifts to each other, but give nothing to Christ.

What kind of Christmas gift would be suitable to give Christ? The principle of wise giving is that the gift be something that can be used. You do not give your grandmother a skateboard, unless she is an unusual grandmother. A Christmas gift to Christ must be something He can use. Jesus does not want and cannot use merely good wishes in the costly effort of overcoming evil and bringing in a kingdom of hope, joy, love and peace. He can't use a person's easy, sentimental admiration. Mere words, no matter how beautiful, are no acceptable gift to Christ.

The gift of your mind - that would be a gift Christ wants and can use. To allow your ideas to be formed by the mind of Jesus; to love what He loved; to hate what He hated; to bring our insistent desires unto the captivity of His Will, that would be a great Christmas gift for Him. Next, why not give Christ your strength, add the impact of your life to the force of the Peacemakers, refuse to accept our present world as the best possible, and be willing to work for a more Christian order of life - that would be far more valuable than the gold, frankincense and myrrh of the Wise Men.

God bless you and have a Merry, Merry Christmas as you bring your gifts to Christ.
