Mt. Bethel UMC

October 28, 2012

All Saints Sunday

All Saints Sunday will be observed on October 28. It is a day of remembrance for the saints, with the New Testament meaning of all Christian people of every time and place. We celebrate the "communion of saints" as we remember those now living in the Father's House, both of the Church universal and of Mt. Bethel. The names of Mt. Bethel's members who died during the past year will be solemnly read as a candle is lit in their honor during today's Sanctuary worship services. As each name is read, we invite the family and friends to stand in tribute.

Choosing an educational partner for your child's life foundation is one of the most critical decisions you will make as a parent. Mt. Bethel Christian Academy welcomes you to an Open House on THUR, NOV 8 at 10 AM, to learn how a rigorous, preparatory, Christ-Centered curriculum, taught by expert faculty with small class sizes and low student-teacher ratios, can prepare your child with an unshakeable life foundation. Reservations are not required. For more information, contact the Academy Office of Admission at 770-971-0245 or visit the web at www.MtBethelChristian.org.

Angel Tree begins November 4 and runs through December 2.  The "Angels" represent gift requests of  children in foster care and adults who are being assisted by the Department of Family and Children Services.  Trees will be located in the connector hallway, the Academy lobby and the nursery hallway starting Sunday, November 4.  Please pick up your Angels and spread the spirit of Christmas to the least and the lost.

The Atlanta Center for Self-Sufficiency (formerly the Samaritan House) needs your donations - in particular, men's leather dress shoes. They always have a need for men and women's dress clothes, i.e. suits, dresses, sport coats, slacks, dress shirts, blouses (please use hangers), ties, shoes and belts to wear on job interviews. Casual summer clothes and new underwear & socks are also needed. Drop items off at the Missions trailer to the left of the CAC. Tax receipts are available in the front desk of the CAC. For more information, please contact Sam Smith at 770-565-8233.

What is the best way to catch the "Christmas spirit"? Be in service to others. The West Virginia ministry will send a team of 15 to Welch, W.Va. on Dec. 6 to help with a Christmas event that will serve over 400 members of this poverty-stricken community. Local residents who attend will enjoy a Christmas pageant, a hot lunch and a box of food for their Christmas dinner. Children will select gifts--some of which will be donated by Mt. Bethel Sunday school classes and other small groups.

Please contact Larry Armstrong--larryarmstrong1@gmail.com for more information.

You will be blessed. "If you want to see God, walk among the broken and the beaten, the unattractive and forgotten--there you will see Him".
