The Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders are proud to offer its members an opportunity to meet with Sam Sicard.  Sam is the President and CEO of First Bank Corp., which includes First National Bank of NWA.  First Bank Corp. includes 27 bank locations in Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma and insurance and financial services through Brown-Hiller-Clark and employs just under 500 people.  Based out of Fort Smith, Sam is the fifth generation of his family to lead the bank and one of the youngest bank CEO's in the state of Arkansas.  In 2014, Arkansas Business named Sam to the 40 Under 40 list.

Sam is passionate about education and children and it shows through his community outreach.  He was appointed by Governor Beebe to the Vision 2025 Legislative Commission on the Future of Higher Education and the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board.  He was also the founder of Step Up Speak Out, a community campaign/event in Fort Smith to raise awareness and protect children from sexual abuse.

NWA EMERGING LEADERS | IMPACT

Board Service Certification
On January 16 the Legacy Workgroup held a SOLD OUT Board Service Certification seminar.  The 41 participants gained the tools and knowledge to effectively serve on an area non-profit board of directors.  Topics covered included financial considerations, legal and ethical responsibilities and fundraising.  Public service boards and commissions were also explored.  Closing the day was a reception with twenty area non-profits represented. Special thanks to all of the volunteers and panelists who made the day possible.  Watch for details on the next session to be held in late summer 2015.

Way to go Legacy Workgroup for MAKING AN IMPACT!

Member Profile

Name: Tara Dryer
Employer: University of Arkansas
Length of Time in NWA: 8 years
How long have you been in NWAEL: 6 years

How has being part of Emerging Leaders helped you connect with NWA?:  Beyond the educational events and opportunities that NWAEL puts on for its members, the greatest value has been meeting new people in various sectors of the business community and being able to engage with them in a variety of professional capacities. Through the workgroups, you are able to get involved in areas on the community that you are passionate for whether it be community enrichment, legacy, trails, political and government affairs or sustainability or a little bit of everything. Emerging Leaders is built around what our members want it to be so our members are what shapes the direction of our organization. Getting involved is the reason I am now connected!

Special shout out to Tara - Tara was a founding member of NWA Emerging Leaders and finished her term on the NWAEL Board at the end of 2014.  Thank you for your leadership and dedication to NWAEL, Tara.  You have MADE AN IMPACT!

Has NWAEL helped you Make An Impact in some way?  Email Whitney Yoder to share your story and be featured in a newsletter!
