Become Part of a Legacy Group!

Beginning in February, the Legacy workgroup will start seeking NWAEL members to participate in "Legacy Groups."  These groups will be based on the concept of a "mastermind group," or a personal board of directors that will help the participants grow personnally and professionally.  Interested NWAEL members will be placed into carefully selected groups that have both a diverse background and common objectives.  The Legacy Group that you become a part of will have a vested interest in your success and will hopefully serve you for many years in the future.  Be on the lookout for more information!

Survey Seeks Your Input | What Do You Want For Our Community?

The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce needs your input and assistance in building the future of our community.  It has initiated a process to further enhance the community's quality of life and is currently soliciting input for development of a new community action plan.  Take advantage of this opportunity to shape the future and develop the vision for Rogers-Lowell.  The survey and more information are available at www.rogerslowellvision.comThe survey closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31.

SPECIAL THANKS

Special thanks go out to NWAEL founding Steering Committee members Paul Wilson (pictured left), Clint Hopper (pictured right) and Bethany Stephens (not pictured).  At the conclusion of 2013 their term expired on the Steering Committee and they are now members of the Advisory Committee.  Wilson, Hopper and Stephens were instrumental in shaping the vision and working to turn that vision into the existing NWAEL program.  We thank them for their years of leadership and the legacy that they have each left with NWAEL.

Also recognized was Tina Winham (pictured center) for her service and leadership in 2013 as she served as the NWAEL Steering Committee Chairman.

NWAEL extends apprecation and gratitude for everything that these individuals have contributed over the years to NWAEL!

WORKGROUP UPDATES

LEGACY

The Legacy Workgroup was formed with a vision of creating a leadership pool to link ready, willing and able emerging talent to organizations, public and private boards, commissions and other areas of leadership to benefit the community.

The Legacy workgroup is planning two board service training events for 2014 but specific dates have not been set yet.  The program provides participants  information on legal and ethical issues, analyzing financial statements, fundraising and guidance on how to find a nonprofit that matches your interests.  Following the day-long training session, participants are immediately matched with nonprofits looking for board volunteers.
If you want to get involved in a local nonprofit and make a difference in your community, plan to attend the next certification program! If you want to help plan the next event, attend the next Legacy workgroup and get involved.

Additionally, the Legacy workgroup is kicking off their new Legacy Groups.  Read more about them above in the News section!

SUSTAINABILITY

The Sustainability Workgroup continues to work with nonprofits as they plan for events to help them organize waste collection to turn their golf tournament, gala or fundraiser into a low-waste, sustainable function. If you work for a nonprofit that might benefit from advice and guidance on how to organize your event to maximize sustainability contact the Sustainability Workgroup.

The Sustainability Workgroup continually brainstorms and seeks ways to make NWA a greener, more efficient environment.  This year, the group hopes to release videos, manuals, and kits as resources to the public to help them live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and produce events with less of an impact to the environment.  If this is something you're interested in helping out with, contact Craig Overton.

COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT

Community Enrichment serves to connect members with volunteer opportunities, existing leaders and be an incubator for new project ideas.  This mission produces a wide-range of projects that members are currently working on.  If you have an interest in any of them or have an idea of your own that doesn't fit with any of the other workgroups then Community Enrichment is the place to test your idea.

The Community Enrichment workgroup is currently making plans for the first NWAEL volunteer day of 2014.  This event will allow Emerging Leaders to give back to their community and bond with fellow members. Tentative plans right now include working at the Samaritan Community Center serving lunch in the Cafe.  Watch for more details and how you can get involved!
