September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month

Library and CMS partner to bring cards to kids

September is the perfect time to recognize the value of a library card as libraries across the country join together for National Library Card Sign-Up Month.

It's also the perfect time to highlight Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) to get library cards into the hands of as many Pre-K to 3rd grade students as possible.

Launched last month, this initiative aims to supply some 51,000 Pre-K to 3rd grade students with library cards for the 2014-2015 school year. Later in the year, the partners will pilot a Library "eCard" for students in grades 6-12 in the Project L.I.F.T community. Learn about both programs here.

And since families that read together, succeed together, don't forget to make sure you've got a card for yourself by visiting this link.

The Pre-K to 3rd grade student library card initiative is funded in part by Foundation For The Carolinas.
