Kids can
"Grow Up Great" through early financial literacy.

Many of us are aware of the positive effects that early exposure to books and reading can bring to children, but did you know that teaching them about money as early as three years old can have a similar impact?

Thanks to a $200,000 grant from the PNC Foundation, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library will be able to touch the lives of some 30,000 children and their parents to teach early financial literacy through lessons from For Me, for You, for Later: First Steps to Spending, Sharing, & Saving™ kits, developed by Sesame Workshop. Read
more about the grant.

The initiative goes into full swing later this month and will build on several successful early literacy library programs already in place. Here are some upcoming opportunities for your young child to learn. Stay tuned for more.

University City Interested in volunteering?

Unique and creative gardening volunteer opportunity at University City Regional Library.

Individuals or groups are needed to help maintain and refresh the landscaping in the front of the University City Regional library, including a small rose garden. This would be a great project for someone creative who would like to bring color and life to the library's front landscaping for the public to enjoy. Maintenance of the garden would be required on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. Please contact Cameron Smith at University City Regional if you are interested in this unique volunteer opportunity for you or your group (704-416-7211 or csmith@cmlibrary.org).
