New mobile-friendly look. Last month, we asked you -- our library newsletter subscribers -- whether you read our newsletter from a computer or a mobile device.

Nearly half of you responded that you're using mobile devices, so we've updated the layout to be more mobile-friendly. We hope you like it!

Can you believe it's already August? We'd like to thank you for reading with us this summer, and remind you to record your reading minutes online. We've extended the end of Summer Reading by one day, so you now have until August 10 to record your reading time. Then, stop by any library location to pick up your prizes by 5pm on Friday, August 17. Don't wait because prizes are only available while supplies last. (Grand prize drawing winners will be contacted August 12.) Visit the Summer Reading page for details or to record your time.

Do you teach in Mecklenburg County?
If so, you qualify for a special library card.

Did you know the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library offers Teacher Loan Cards by request to teachers in Mecklenburg County? Teacher Loan Cards enable educators to borrow items for extended periods for classroom use. Learn how to apply.

For those who already have Teacher Loan Cards, be aware that it needs to be renewed in person each year. If you obtained yours prior to June 2013, it will expire on August 15, 2013. Just visit any library branch after August 15 and present one of the documents listed on this page to renew your card for the coming school year.

Heads up! Brief interruption in service coming Aug. 18.
Our Classic Catalog, online fine payment and telephone renewal will be unavailable during a scheduled hardware upgrade on Sunday, August 18, from approximately 4pm to 8pm. The Enhanced Catalog will have limited functionality during this time. Thank you for your patience as we make the necessary updates to better serve our customers.

Participating libraries are: Beatties Ford Road Regional, Cornelius, Independence Regional, Mint Hill, Morrison Regional, Mountain Island, North County Regional, South County Regional, Steele Creek, University City Regional, West Boulevard.

What do I donate?
