Your gift helps us build bright futures in our community

As we continue to meet the evolving reading, learning and educational needs of our community, your support becomes more and more vital. While Mecklenburg County provides 90% of the Library's funding, that last 10% makes all the difference.

Donate Online

A recent survey of Mecklenburg County residents found that 90% believe that the Library is extremely or very important to our community, up 3% from just two years ago. Your generous gift in combination with the gifts received from others just like you supports funding for books and materials, and provides vital programming that addresses critical needs in the areas of early childhood literacy, educational success and workforce development.

As you know, the Library's success relies on a strong public-private partnership that makes us one of the premier systems in the country in service to our community. Your gift will help us continue to be a leader in providing that support. We look forward to serving you and our community today and in the years to come.

SUMMER READING

Summer Reading 2013
No matter what your age, there's a summer reading program for you!
Get Set for Summer... Reading!
Online Summer Reading sign-up starts May 21.
Programs run June 11 - August 9, 2013.

What comes to mind when you think about summer? Swimming? Summer camp? Barbecues? Music in the park? This year, why not make reading and sharing books part of your summer fun?

Here's the scoop about Summer Reading 2013
  • It's online! Summer reading for all ages will be online, and you can sign up as early as May 21 at www.cmlibrary.org/summmerread. If you don't have a computer at home, come to the library and sign up using one of ours.
  • Just like previous years, participants who finish reading the required number of hours will be eligible for great prizes. Sponsoring businesses are donating prizes to help encourage participants to keep reading all summer long.
  • We'll have exciting programs in library branches all summer long to complement your summer reading experience.

No matter what your reason for reading, you reap great benefits. Teachers and literacy experts agree that reading throughout the summer helps students retain skills learned during the school year. Most importantly, when parents and children enjoy summer reading together, children develop a love of books and reading that lasts a lifetime.

Visit www.cmlibrary.org/summerread starting May 21.
