2012 I Love My Librarian Award Winner Beatriz Guevara
Patrons nominate candidates for the award sponsored by Carnegie Corporation of New York and the New York Times, and administered by the American Library Association.
Beatriz was nominated by a patron who attended a college planning and career informational workshop at the Library. Because of the help she received, Beatriz's nominator is now enrolled in college, receiving financial aid, and is on her way to becoming a paralegal.
"Beatriz is truly the people's librarian."
Beatriz Adriana Guevara's career dream began at age 13, when she met a bilingual librarian. "Ever since, the profession had become a dream of mine," said the reference Librarian. "I liked the way she helped and inspired me and others, and that's what I want to do: help people achieve their dreams." Guevara has promoted reading and lifelong learning in the library and throughout the community.
Click Here to see Beatriz on You Tube talking about the importance of this award and what it means to her.
Congratulations!
