Politics In Prose
Collection by Reader's Club
As a genre, political writing forms a wide territory in the publishing world. People of every political stripe devour titles suited to their own political bent. The Reader's Club List includes works by historians, reporters, pundits, talking heads, and even conspiracy theorists. They represent many shades of the political spectrum. Readers will discover some authors who will challenge their worldview and others who share their vision.

Community Service Project
Through Their Eyes: Child Homelessness
Explore the Silent Images Photography exhibit and learn how to end child homelessness. Each year more than 1.6 million children are homeless at some point in their lives. Learn how this affects our community and how you can help.

Being involved in the community is a great way to make connections and build leadership skills. This event is features a speaker from a Child's Place and is best suited for teens and preteens. Family and caretakers welcome.

VETERAN'S DAY

Watch "City of Canvas," a film by Jack Dillard documenting the history of Camp Greene, a World War I training camp in Charlotte.
In honor of Veterans's Day, an often overlooked piece of Mecklenburg history will come to life on Friday November 11th at 3pm. "City of Canvas," a documentary by Jack Dillard, will showcase Camp Greene, a World War I training camp in Charlotte from 1917 to 1919.
Filmaker Jack Dillard will showcase his documentary (produced by WTVI) and discuss his work. Jane Johnson of the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room will present an extensive display of Camp Greene memorabilia.

CHARLOTTE HISTORY MUSEUM COLLECTION

Charlotte Museum of History transferring Archives and Photograph collection to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library
The Charlotte Museum of History announced that it is transferring the Charlotte Museum of History Paper and Photographic archives to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, where they will be housed in the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room. Located on the third floor of the Main Library, the Carolina Room houses the local history, genealogy and special collections of the Library.
The transfer will take place before the end of the year. Click here to read the full press release about this exciting partnership.

It is with great delight that we share the Fiscal Year 2012 Annual Report. The year has been one of repositioning the library; refocusing library services; and rebuilding for the future.
