Sample Sale
 Join us in Port Gamble for the Country Christmas Weekend and get first chance at our sample sale items. These are the wonderful, colorful quilts, bags and clothing  that our sample makers have created for shop display that we are done with. They are usually very reasonably priced and include quilts, table-runners, children's clothing, baby quilts and more! They will be for sale beginning Dec.13th - but don't delay, they usually go quickly!


We are so fortunate at the shop to be able to take a few more moments, an extra breath or two and generally move at a little slower pace this time of year. Our class schedule for 2014 is just about over and I am excited about the schedule that is taking shape for 2015. Some of those classes are listed below and more will be posted in the next few weeks.
 
I am glad to welcome Cindy Jandt and Laura Jones to our staff at Quilted Strait. You will be able to take advantage of Cindy's quilting expertice on Tuesdays in the shop and an occasional Saturday. Local quilters might know Cindy from the Kingston shop a few years ago - be sure to come by and say hi. As well as being an experienced quilter, Cindy is also a talented teacher and she is perking a few things for the winter/spring class schedule as well.  Laura Jones (Beach Garden Quilts) is a little harder to catch in the shop, she works mostly in the back room on inventory control and special projects - among other things she is busy planning some great things for Fiber & Fabric 2015 at Port Gamble.

Take note of the Kathy Barrick Trunk Show photos below (they are not nearly as wonderful as they are in person - come by and look at these stitchery pieces - they are gorgeous!) - and don't forget our gift certificates are on sale right up until Christmas.

I use it on my ipad as a portable sketchpad, but I have seen folks use it on their phones, especially the new iphone6 with great results. And...its free!

Reclaimed West by Judy and Judel Neimeyer

Timeless Treasures and Judy & Judel Niemeyer of Quiltworx have a new collaborative adventure in fabric design!

 

Judy teamed up with her daughter and Business Manager, Judel, to design her first-ever fabric line, The Reclaimed West. The 24-piece collection is inspired by Judel's regional photography.  

 

Influenced by the rustic, natural surroundings of Judy's long-time home in Northwestern Montana, this collection's warm colors are reminiscent of the area's scenic mountains and lakes.

 

The collection features strong graphic designs as well as interesting landscape elements. 
Kathy Barrick
I am so pleased that Kathy Barrick is designing patterns for cross stitch again. Her exquisite primitive folk art style is absolutely unique and so beautifully colored. She has 32 new patterns and we are so fortunate to have samples of 12 of the patterns hanging in the shop right now, through December 15th. Her samples are stitched on 40 count linen and silk floss, but each pattern contains information for using DMC floss and sizing information for using Aida and larger count linens.

ADVENTURES IN DESIGN with Joen Wolfrom  
 
BEGINS SATURDAY FEB. 7  
This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to create designs that are awesome, exciting, innovative, and/or beautiful. This expanded nine-month, eight-day class gives you the opportunity to explore the entire design spectrum. Each monthly session will have its own unique design focus. Between classes, there is time to further explore and experiment with these monthly design concepts through additional activities and small projects.
 

BEGINNING HARDANGER
 Learn as you Stitch!  Complete this sweet little keepsake and learn a few basic Hardanger stitches and techniques. The class fee includes a kit with all of the fabric and threads you need - you just bring your small, sharp, pointed embroidery scissors and a lunch or snack and you are ready to explore this lovely needlework tradition under Jayne's expert guidance. Hand Embroidery Group
Quilted Strait Embroidery Group will meet on the second Sunday of each month at 11 am including in December! All are welcome!

If you are passionate about embroidery or even just slightly interested come and hang out with other embroiderers at Quilted Strait on a Sunday afternoon. Bring your embroidery project and share enthusiasm and ideas. All embroiders are welcome, any level of expertise and any kind of project. Bring your latest redwork project, your crazy quilt squares or perhaps the wool applique and embroidery project you always meant to start, or bring along the embroidered needle case you are working on from the latest Inspirations magazine or Crabapple Hill pattern. There is no charge to participate in this group and no formal instruction - just shared interest in embroidery and needlework!  Contact Kris for more information
