For most of us, there will always be a place for our sewing machine, however, it is wonderful to observe the resurgence of interest in hand sewing! We are seeing lots of folks interested in hand piecing, hand quilting and applique, english paper piecing and embroidery and cross stitch. 

Not only does handwork provide the satisfaction of stitch by stitch creation at a slower, thoughtful pace, but it provides a memory of time and place. I can't remember the details of creation of many machine pieced quilts, but I can remember many of the places and times I have worked on my hand projects; children's swim lessons, vacations, hospital waiting rooms and ferry lines to mention a few!
