What Has The Cant
Done For You?

"We're making a huge messy mix of bodies and genders. This isn't necessarily undesirable--there's fun to be had in confusion and disarray. If my gender is "boy" and my organs are "female" and my pronouns are "male," then what am I? For me, being aware of this chaos is freeing. I am capable of creating my own genderful mess, thank you very much. Instead of looking to the binaries for answers--male/female, feminity/masculinity, sex/gender--I've decided to take my body back for myself--for me to shape, show off, love and dress and play. But above all, for me to name."

The Cant Library has MANY new volumes being processed into its collection. Before the Spring break, why not stop by and check out a book or two to read just for fun?

Probably 90% of our library's books have been donated by our generous contributors (you know who you are and we thank you!) but once or twice a year, Director Deb takes advantage of the deep discount offered at Bookshop Santa Cruz (YES, we support our local indy bookstore and, NO, Amazon is NOT a lesbian-owned business!). Thanks to Cantu intern, Minerva, Deb bought many books with trans* themes and or by trans* authors, including: Redefining Realness, Bi: Notes for a Bisexual Revolution, Nevada, The End of San Francisco, Excluded, Beyond Binary, Butch is a Noun, Gender Outlaws, Why are Faggots So Afraid of Faggots?
