Why The Butterfly?
We chose the butterfly for our logo because of "The Butterfly Effect." The meaning comes from a 1972 talk given by Edward Lorenz to the American Association for the Advancement of Science describing the chaos theory titled, "Does The Flap
Of A Butterfly's Wings In Brazil Set Off A Tornado In Texas." In other words, the ripples of a very small change can make a huge difference down the road. |

The Celebrity Dinner is Back!
Our Celebrity Dinner Theater is back this year and better than ever! With local celebrities like Donovin Darius, Nick Loren, Diane Hutchings, and Dalton Cyr, (just to name a few), we're putting on an old time radio variety show. Add to that an amazing dinner prepared exclusively for our program by The Alhambra Theater and Dining's executive chef, DeJuan Roy served table side and the fantastic Alhambra atmosphere, and you've got an evening to remember. Families are learning everyday that the dreams they had for their children don't have to be forgotten. Our programs are proving on a regular basis what's possible with a little imagination and hard work. Here's a quote from one of our Free 2 Be Me mothers:
"Henderson Haven's Free 2 Be Me is the choice for my most cherished gift (my child). Free 2 Be Me is a unique program which caters to the needs of people with disabilities ages 6-21 years old. Giving them the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed in a non-judgmental environment (hence: Free 2 Be Me). They don't impose restrictions on what type(s) of disability a person has as to whether or not they'll accept them. I have peace of heart and mind with my child attending this facility because I know he's in the hands of people who seek to understand and meet his needs. I no longer receive the phone calls at work that I did before from the previous child care facility concerning things my child is or isn't doing. Another wonderful aspect of the program is the times, when they have fun activities after hours, we can attend such as dancing and bingo. When I think of Henderson Haven and all they do, a few words come to my mind; Love, Compassion and lots of Patience in action. Thank you Henderson Haven for helping me breathe easier."

Adult Day Program is Coming Soon!
 We're taking our successful evening social program to the next level; an adult day program designed to address true life skills and to help promote true community inclusion.
If you're tired of the same old busy work and "baby sitting", maybe you need to try a program where everyone attending determines the goals they want to reach in order to live a self-determined life. It's not about staying busy, it's about living!

We Need Your Outdoor Equipment & Skills
 As our programs keep growing, so does the need for a larger, safer place for those we serve to be able to enjoy the outside. We have a great space, but it needs a little TLC. Some of the items needed are: fencing (moved and built), playground equipment (donated and/or built), outdoor tables and shade (to be able to enjoy meals or quiet time), recreation area, basketball or other outdoor game area. If you have the ability to donate any of the equipment needs, or have the skills to help with any of the needed building projects, please email us here or call us here today. You can help be a part of the positive change in someone's life!

We're proving that our system can work for anyone and we're even showing that in the long run, our way is cheaper. We can see a future for Florida where segregation is a thing of the past and everyone is able to be a contributing member to their communities.
