Scripture Text
For Sunday, February 16th
Hebrews 12: 1-3
"The Vision We Need"
Sunday's nicknames of Jesus are two of my favorites because they are ripe, rich and brimming with meaning!
They are found in the Book of Hebrews tucked away in the back of the New Testament and are usually translated as Author and Finisher (of our faith). These translations are good but incomplete! They conclude a treatise that was meant to inspire courage. They were written to a community that was beginning to go - in Margaret Thatcher's words - wobbly.
In this powerful passage we get a great vision about what the life of faith is all about!

Oh, the Weather Outside is Frightful...
Weather Cancellation Policy
During the winter months when weather can be a bit questionable, our ministries will be depending on the National Weather Service as the driving force for our weather cancellation policy. We will be paying particular attention to the weather statements issued in Kane County. However, if there is a storm watch in effect for Kane County at 1pm and the radar shows a massive storm barreling toward Geneva expected to hit later that afternoon, that will be a factor for cancellation as well.
Cancellations of programs and events will happen if the National Weather Service issues: -a travel advisory/ hazardous conditions -a winter storm warning -severe weather warning -weather bulletins wherein travel is not recommended
Programs will proceed as scheduled if:
- there is a wind chill advisory (if programs are held indoors)
- there is a winter storm watch
- there is a severe weather watch

MATRIX - Middle School Ministry
Confirmands Serving Communion - One of the requirements for this year's confirmation class is that we encourage the students and their families to actively participate in worship at Rejoice, and one way to do that is to serve communion and/or greet. We ask that you serve at least once during your confirmation year. To learn more about serving and how to get on the schedule, please contact Julie Douglas.

SUMMIT - High School Ministry
Summit this week - Join us Thursday, February 13th from 7-8pm as we continue 'The Way.' This is "part 3" of this series called "the way." But its not really a series about anything in particular. Its just really about us reading the book of John together and experiencing Jesus in community. This week we look at John 4 where Jesus encounters a woman at a well. Big deal, right? This interaction actually tells us a lot more than we think about who Jesus is and why he came.
1st Mission Trip Fundraiser - Rejoice Revue on February 23! If you're a missionary for theLOVEproject14 you will be expected to participate from 3:30pm-9:00pm. An annual tradition at Rejoice Lutheran Church which is a "No-Talent Talent Show/ Silent Auction." The total amount raised from Rejoice Review generally is evenly divided among the students who participate leading up to and during the event. We need you to do 3 crucially important things:
#1 Bring a HOMEMADE baked good to share. (Pie, homemade cookies, cake, some sort of a dessert) Consider it somewhat of a bake sale. Therefore, don't show up with a case of Jewel cookies. Need help with this? Click here.
#2 Show up and serve. There will be many aspects that make RR a success. You play important roles in making this happen - from helping move the stage, to serving food, to providing child care - please come ready to be asked to step up!
#3 We need AWESOME auction items. Use your connections, talk to your parents, family, friends, whoever, but we need outstanding items for auction! Please do not go spend a ton of money yourself on this stuff. But if your parents have a timeshare someplace, a lake house, a new TV that's just sitting around, PLEASE consider donating stuff like this for auction.
St. Charles Park District Job Fair - Students seeking summer employment can attend the St. Charles Park District Teen Job Fair at the Pottawatomie Community Center (8 North Ave, St. Charles) on Monday, February 17th from 5:30-7:30. The event is hosted by the Park District in cooperation with the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, and ages 16-24 are eligible to attend/apply. For additional information, please call 630-513-4330.
Update Newsletter Preference - Are you the parent of a new high school student and would like to receive the eSummit emailed newsletter? Click here to update your preferences and choose which newsletters you would like to receive!
