Ready for a Revolution!
Join a consortium of historical and cultural organizations for a day long festival celebrating Worcester County's role in starting the American Revolution - the Worcester Revolution of 1774 - on Sunday, September 7th from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Institute Park, the American Antiquarian Society, 185 Salisbury Street, Worcester; and other adjacent sites which will be filled with stories, dramatic presentations, children's activities, period craftsmen, colonial militia, interpreters and a reenactment of the Worcester Revolution itself! Float your Boat
Blackstone Canalfest returns to Harding Street at Kelley Square on Saturday, September 6th from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. The day long festival will feature food, music, dance, street performers, children's activities, vendors, horse and wagon tours, craft demonstration and even kayak rides on a canal replica right on the street! Get the party stARTed
The stART on the Street Fall festival returns to Worcester's Park Avenue between Highland and Pleasant Streets on Sunday, September 21st from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Browse and buy from hundreds of local artists and crafters while enjoying multiple stages of live music, kids' activities, food vendors, street performers and more! Harvest Time
Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Drive, Boylston, invites you to a Celebration of the Fall Harvest Season each weekend beginning Saturday, September 20th and running through October 13th. Each specially themed weekend will feature heirloom apples, locally made products, children's activities and of course, breath taking views of nearby Mt. Wachusett and the reservoir. Opening weekend, Saturday & Sunday, September 20th & 21st,  will feature a Gardner's Emporium. Additional details and full schedule available online. Craft Festival
The 4th Annual Craft Festival, a partnership between the Worcester Center for Crafts and Fruitlands Museum will take place in the fields at the museum, 102 Prospect Hill Road, Harvard, on Saturday & Sunday, September 27th & 27th, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday. Craftsmen from throughout New England will be on site showing and selling their handmade ceramics, fiber art, jewelry, wood and more. Admission just $5, free for 12 and under, and includes admission to museum galleries and trails. Event held rain or shine, under the tent. Fall for All
Join the Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester ReStore, 11 Distributor Road, Worcester, for its biggest Fall for All sale yet on Saturday, September 27th from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The sale will feature live music and a variety of vendors and workshops for all ages throughout the day, including tile crafting! More info. All proceeds will go towards building houses through the local Habitat affiliate. PARKing Day
Theatre Cafe, 529 Main Street, Worcester, will host WalkBike Worcester's first PARKing Day on Friday, September 19th from 2-7 p.m. This international event brings residents, artists, and activists together to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into temporary public places. Great Art
Value Pack
A collaboration between seven local artists will open as an exhibition called Value Pack at the Sprinkler Factory, 38 Harlow Street, Worcester, on Saturday, September 6th from 5-9 p.m. The dynamic exhibit features the works of Don Hartmann, Jonnie Coutu, Scott Boilard, John Buron, Brian Burris, J-me Johnston and Michelle May, displaying their individual artistic diversity yet paying mutual respect and support to one another, other creatives in the community and beyond. Show will be on view through September 28th with a mid show reception on September 20th from 6-9 p.m. and a closing artist brunch on September 28th, 12-3 p.m. Admission is free. Two for One
ArtsWorcester, 660 Main Street, Worcester will host an opening reception for two exhibitions on Friday, September 12th from 7- 9 p.m. News from Nowhere: Photographs by Cade Overton features meditative black and white photographs which explore the human construction in rural America from Pennsylvania to Texas, while Material Needs features the works of Matt Abelson, John LaPrade, Rose LeBeau, Irina Parfenova and Emily Sandagata, supported by assistance from the first round of Material Needs Grants. Siberia Imagined & Reimagined
Some fifty photographers contributed to the newest exhibit at the Museum of Russian Icons, 203 Union Street, Clinton, Russian Photography: Siberia Imagined and Reimagined, opening Saturday, September 13th. Offering a true insider's view, the depth, variety and achievement of Siberian photography is impressive. Depicting subjects ranging from the everday to the bizarre, spanning more than 130 years beginning with the late 19th cenury to the present. Exhibition will be on view through January 2015. Faculty Arts
From the emerging to the established, the 2014 Worcester State University Faculty Arts exhibition will expose the depth and breadth of the artistic practice and talent of the WSU arts faculty, taking the visitor through abstract painting and sculpture to more representational imagery in both printmaking and printing, along with photography, drawing, ceramics and combined media. Special opening reception will be held at the Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery, 486 Chandler Street, Worcester, on Thursday, September 18th from 5-7 p.m. with complimentary refreshments. Landscapes of the Soul
The Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Art Gallery, 1 College Street, Worcester, invites you to an opening reception for The Italian Nativity IL PRESEPE: Cultural Landscapes of the Soul, on Thursday, September 18th from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition is an exploration of an important form of Italian art: the nativity scene, or the presepe, by Margot Balboni, an independent curator and photographer and Sarah Stanbury, a medievalist and member of the Holy Cross English Department. Ambient Folklore
Luis Antonio Fraire, Worcester enthusiast, artist, musician and Sprinkler Factory Gallery manager, has curated a new exhibit for the Worcester Center for Crafts, 25 Sagamore Road, Worcester, that's definitely one for the books! Ambient Folklore, features the works of nine distinctive artists who intend instant visual communication in their work, essentially creating an immersive storytelling environment as the viewer goes from work to work, artist to artist. Participating artists include Lisa Barthelson, Elizabeth Duffy, Francis "Woody" Woodbridge, Luis Antonio Fraire, Nick Kantarelis, Amy Klausmeyer, Victor Pacheco, Mari Seder, John Havens Thornton, and Pat Coomey Thornton. Sunset Serenades
As views go, it's pretty hard to top the view from Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Drive, Boylston. Beautiful anytime, but particularly breathtaking with the arrival of autumn, enjoy along with live music on the terrace every Wednesday evening throughout the month of September. Tonight, Wednesday, September 3rd, from 6-8 p.m. don't miss the Allamende North Acoustic Band, known for playing melodic and rhythmic traditional and contemporary tunes. Subsequent Wednesdays will feature singer/songwriter Luanne Crosby (Sept 10th), jazz guitar duo Mirror Image (Sept 17th); and pianist Vannga Tran (Sept 24th). Geller Jazz Nightclub
