Out to Lunch Concert Series Announces Summer Lineup 
Dynamic entertainment, farmers market
& food vendors set to return
to Worcester Common Oval 
  
Worcester, Mass.-The City of Worcester and the Worcester Cultural Coalition are pleased to announce the sixth installment of the wildly popular Out to Lunch' Concert Series. The concerts will kick off on Thursday, June 19th and will continue for ten consecutive weeks through August 21st.

 

Building upon last year's programming, the public is invited to enjoy ten free, live concerts of various genres running from noon to 2pm. To showcase additional local talent, the series will continue to highlight local community groups during intermission.  

 

A Farmers Market coupled with area food vendors and artisan crafters will open each Thursday at 11 a.m. 

 

The series not only showcases local talent and business, but provides an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the every-changing and beautified Worcester Common. With added café tables, the beautiful plaza, and continuous area improvements, this venue remains to be the perfect home for a downtown, summer concert series. 

   

The New England Dream Center is the presenting sponsor of the 2014 Out to Lunch Concert Series, with additional support coming from Immedia, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and College of the Holy Cross. Media sponsors include WCRN Radio, the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, the Worcester Regional Transit Authority and Charter TV3.

 


Summer 2014 Performers Include:

 

June 19: Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers

Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers, who've just recently won a Boston Music Award for "Blues Act of the Year," have been perfecting their "Charles River Delta Blues" style, a fusion of country, Americana, soul, even reggae, and making quite a splash on the blues scene. A Delta Swingers show provides non-stop dancing, and audiences go wild for their mix of upbeat originals as well as classics that range from Memphis Minnie to Bessie Smith to early Bonnie Raitt. Featuring the intricate finger-picking guitar style of chanteuse Erin Harpe, the band evokes a southern juke joint where the whiskey and gin are flowing and everybody's dancing to that undeniable rootsy blues beat.

 

June 26: Sonic Explorers

Sonic Explorers is a creatively spirited and musically diverse instrumental ensemble whose repertoire focuses on the original compositions & arrangements of trumpeter & leader Jerry Sabatini. Since 1995 Jerry's music has been driven by some of the finest musicians in the Boston area. Characterized by sensational improvisations bursting out from tight, well-crafted arrangements, Sonic Explorers soar without limits and have defined a unique and personalized sound that is unmistakably all their own.

 

July 3: The Hip Swayers 

The Hip Swayers are a quality, local, good time, get up and dance band that combines tight rhythms, searing solos and soulful harmonies in an eclectic mix of originals and covers, encompassing straight ahead roots rock with a country flavor. Worcester's own - bringing a bit of Hank Williams sensibility, Carter/Cash authenticity, and infectious personality!  


July 10: The SouL DeScendants

If you're looking for a top of the line high energy entertainment and event band, The Soul Descendants are guaranteed to get the party started and keep it rollin. We're not your average general band. The Soul Descendants will surprise and satisfy you with its soulful and electrifying blends of R&B, Funk, Soul, Blues, Top 40, and Old Skool, fused with a little hip. Eddie Macon aka: The Soul Descendant and The Band are a Worcester/ Boston area based group with over 40 years of combined musical and vocal talent.


July 17: Jubilee Gardens 

An all original eclectic mix of rock, pop, folk & world music, with an ensemble cast of talented players and varied instruments. A band with so much music, they self-produced four CD's in the time they've been together, and continue to produce great music and exciting shows, keeping the audience dancing & having fun with them.

 

July 24: Testify

Testify is beyond comparison. Individually and collectively, the band known as Testify provides ability and dedication offered by only the best of players. The wide range of influences and musical background culminating on one stage gives Testify a unique sound that every music lover wants to hear. 'Powerful' best describes the band that you are about to meet. Music that makes you want to dance!

 

July 31: Ashley Jordan

Twenty-one year old Ashley Jordan has just released her highly anticipated third album of all-original country/Americana music in late 2013.Whether performing as a solo artist with just her guitar and powerful vocals, or backed by a band of talented musicians, Ashley's unique style and unforgettable original tunes compel listeners of all ages to stop and listen.

 

August 7: Throwback to the 1960s

Throwback to the 1960s is a show band performing the great music of the 60's, reliving the mood with an authentic period stage setup, costume changes and amazing vocal harmonies so prevalent from the Hollies, DC-5, Byrds, Paul Revere & The Raiders, and many others.

 

August 14: Matthew Sanchez Y Su Orquesta

Matthew Sanchez y su Orquesta is a 10 piece salsa band filled with energy, youthful sound, and a true passion for salsa music. Matthew Sanchez has been singing salsa music for over 10 years, playing in venues and events in the NYC, RI, FL, MA, and PR areas. With his sonero improvising and his well-toned voice, Matthew is sure to captivate an audience wherever he goes.

 

August 21: East Coast Soul 

East Coast Soul is a passionate collective of musicians from the Boston area who assembled for one purpose: to create unparalleled musical performances featuring the best modern music ever made.
