Meet the Authors
B.A. Shapiro, author of the best seller, The Art Forger, and Maryanne O'Hara, author of Cascade, will give a talk at the Worcester Jewish Community Center, 633 Salisbury Street, Worcester, on Tuesday, April 1st at 7 p.m. entitled Two Books, Two Artists, Two Moral Dilemmas.
Almost 25 years ago, two thieves disguised as Boston police officers entered the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and made off with thirteen pieces of art, today valued at over $500 million dollars. It remains the largest unsolved art heist in history and served as the inspiration for Shapiro's exhilarating novel.During the 1930s, in a small town fighting for its survival, a conflicted new wife attempts to reconcile her artistic ambitions with the promise she made to save her father's Shakespeare theatre - O'Hara's spin on the age-old conflict between a woman's perceived duty and her deepest desires.
Following the lecture, there will be a book signing and dessert reception. Admission is free and open to the public. |
