An Evening with Haydn
Wednesday, February 19th at Clark University's Traina Center for the Arts, 92 Downing Street, Worcester. Sylvia Berry, fortepianist, and Dale Munschy, keyboard technician and restorer, will explore the story and legacy of changing tuning systems and keyboard instruments in the 17th and 18th centuries from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The lecture will be followed at 7:30 p.m. with a recital of Haydn's late keyboard works. African Roots of New Orleans Jazz
Sunday, February 23rd at 1:30 p.m. at the Worcester Art Museum, 55 Salisbury Street, Worcester. As part of its ongoing Sunday Sermons series, WAM will host Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester faculty member Elizabeth Bronstein, cello and fiddle, and partner Sam Politz, accordion, for a performance in honor of Black History Month. Politz, a native of Louisiana, will speak about the African roots of these two unique American musical styles - New Orleans Jazz and Louisiana Cajun music. Included with museum admission. Motown & the Civil Rights Movement
Thursday, February 6th at 7 p.m. at the Worcester Historical Museum, 30 Elm Street, Worcester. Join pop music historian Tom Ingrassia for an engaging multimedia presentation that traces the development of and interconnections between the escalating popularity of Motown and the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. Being held in conjunction with Worcester in the 1960s an exhibition about Worcester and its future - rebuilding, housing, industry and commerce - at a time when politics and social unrest dominated the headlines. ˇCARNAVAL!
Through March 16th at the Worcester Center for Crafts, 25 Sagamore Road, Worcester. Through videos, photographs, hands-on interactives, carnival crafts, masks and costumes, journey around the world to celebrate Carnaval! Explore the origins of this global celebration and have fun! Special exhibit related talks on February 8th at 2 p.m. on the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans; and February 22nd about Venice Masking Traditions; leading up to Carnival Day for all ages on March 1st. In Retrospect: Sid Solomon - The First 80 Years

Secret Symbolism: Decoding Color in Russian Icons
Through March 1st at the Museum of Russian Icons, 203 Union Street, Clinton. This dynamic exhibit offers visitors the opportunity to explore how various colors and tints reveal and augment the meaning of the sacred icons. Understanding the connotation of the palette of colors typically used in icon 'writing' cultivates a deeper understanding of the saints and legends the paintings portray. Nature in Translation
On view through March 15th at ArtsWorcester, 660 Main Street, Worcester. Featuring recent works by Anne Harris and Laurie McCrohon, the exhibit highlights landscape and nature and the artists' differing approaches. Harris takes inspiration from daily walks in the woods and the decay and decomposition of certain trees over the course of time.
