June 2013 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Tornado of 1953. To commemorate that event, which forever changed the lives of many local residents, the Worcester Historical Museum, 30 Elm Street, Worcester, is presenting Worcester 911 - an exhibition that will look at some of the natural and man-made disasters which have shaped our community. On Thursday, March 28th from 5-8 p.m. help capture the memories, tragedies and relief efforts of the devastating tornado and other storms, floods and blizzards by sharing your stories, photographs and artifacts with the museum's librarian and curator. Free with museum admission. Photographs and documents brought in to the museum can be scanned and returned on the same day. Artifacts loaned or given to WHM may be featured in the exhibition. Worcester's original Craft Beer Festival, Brew Woo, returns for its third year to the DCU Center, 50 Foster Street, Worcester, on Saturday, March 30th with two sessions: from 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. As in year's past Brew Woo will feature more than two dozen breweries with craft beers and local brews, live music, merchandise vendors and a food court stationed by local eateries. Premier Potters
  
The Worcester Center for Crafts, 25 Sagamore Road, Worcester, will host its Pottery Invitational Show and Sale Friday, April 5th - Sunday, April 7th. The show and sale features twenty-two nationally recognized ceramic artists gathering to exhibit their work and to demonstrate their varying techniques. On both Saturday and Sunday many of the participating artists will also be hosting demonstrations. A site to be seen for sure! Be sure to get to the Worcester Art Museum, 55 Salisbury Street, Worcester to check out the 10th mural in the museum's Wall at WAM series. The collaborative husband and wife team of Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison were commissioned to create the second-story, 67-foot expanse. Their staged photography involves performance, sculptural props, elaborate backdrops and digital technology. See a sneak peek of the exhibit being installed online. An Evening in Paris
  
Enjoy a trip to Paris, compliments of the Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester, 203 Pakachoag Street, Auburn, which will host a music cabaret - An Evening in Paris - on Saturday, April 6th, with two seatings: 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The musical showcase will highlight a time and locale brimming with modernity and elegance - 1920's Paris! Russian Folk
  
The Museum of Russian Icons will host a concert by the Zolotoj Plyos folk ensemble on Saturday, April 6th at 3 p.m. at Clinton High School, 200 West Boylston Street, Clinton. Zolotoj Plyos, founded by Alexander Solovov, Elena Sadina and Sergei Grachev in Saratov, Russia, in 1994, boasts a repertoire which includes folk songs and instrumental pieces from various part of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and Georgia, along with gypsy music, Russian popular music and Jewish music. The three are graduates of the Saratov State Conservatory and together have won prizes at All-Russian and international folk instrument competitions and at the First All-Russian bell competition. Let your creative side go wild Saturdays this spring at CC Lowell, 258 Park Avenue, Worcester, offering a series of special workshops. Hailed as a group with style, imagination and chops, the Worcester Chamber Music Society is a musical ensemble founded locally, performing locally and intimately with Worcester County audiences. The Great Emancipator
  
The 16th president of the United States has garnered significant attention of late following the Academy Award winning film which bears his name. The American Antiquarian Society will explore this much admired historical figure with two upcoming programs.
  
On Friday, April 19th at 7 p.m. don't miss Emancipating Lincoln: How the Great Emancipator Led, and Misled, America to Freedom with Harold Holzer, one of the country's leading authorities on Abraham Lincoln. Explore the weeks leading up to the Emancipation Proclamation and the occasional differences between what Lincoln said and what he did on the issue on Slavery. Lecture will be held at Antiquarian Hall, 185 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Admission is FREE and open to the public. WOO Card holders can swipe for WOO points.
  
On Wednesday, April 24th at 5:30 p.m. enjoy Creating Historical Theater: A Dramatic Reading of Sockdology at The Hanover Theatre, 2 Southbridge Street, Worcester. AAS will host Jeffrey Hatcher for a reading of the play Sockdology, a nineteenth-century boxing term that means the brutal end of everything. Featured in Our American Cousin, it was likely the last word Abraham Lincoln heard before he was assassinated while watching this play at Ford's Theatre. Hatcher used this historical footnote to create a new play, researched at AAS, about the acting troupe performing that night, and the impact Lincoln's death had on them and the nation. Admission $10. Last Shop Standing
 
The Lucky Dog Music Hall, 89 Green Street, Worcester, invites you to explore the rise, fall and rebirth of the independent record shop with the showing of Last Shop Standing on Wednesday, April 17th, 9:30 p.m. The film, inspired by the book of the same name by Graham Jones, takes you behind the counter to discover why nearly 2,000 record shop have already disappeared across the UK. The film charts the rapid rise of record shops in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, the influence of the chart, the underhand deals, the demise of vinyl and rise of the CD as well as new technologies. The Bay State African Violet Society will host another spectacular show featuring America's favorite houseplant, the African Violet, at Tower Hill Botanic Garden, 11 French Drive, Boylston, on Saturday, April 20th from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. All are welcome to enter their own plants and floral designs for judging to win ribbons and prizes. Return to the garden on Saturday, April 27th  at 2 p.m. for a lecture/discussion with Susan Williams, author and University of Fitchburg profession, who will talk about her latest book: Alice Morse Earle and the Domestic History of America. Alice was born in Worcester in 1851 to a family of gardeners, active in the Worcester Horticultural Society and co-founders of the Worcester Garden Club. Presentation will also include botanical drawings that Alice and her sister did in their teens and twenties - beautiful and very sweet on loan to the garden fro descendants of the Morse Family.
