a Musical Tasting

WOOphoria invites card subscribers and others to experience culture, creativity & community

Worcester, Massachusetts - The Worcester Cultural Coalition's WOO Card program continues to 'WOO' card holders and not-yet-card holders alike with a series of WOOphoria events - designed to introduce a number of participating WOO venues in one 'WOOphoric' experience. The first of five WOOphoria's planned for this calendar year will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Mechanics Hall, 321 Main Street, Worcester. Dubbed WOOphoria: A Musical Tasting, the evening will showcase the program's performing arts organizations including live performances by the Worcester Academy of Music, the Joy of Music Program, Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester, and the Worcester Chamber Music Society. Guests will also enjoy food tastings from a variety of the program's participating restaurants including: Flying Rhino Cafe & Watering Hole, Celtic Tavern, Theatre Cafe, Eric's LaPatisserie, Ceres Bistro and CocoBeni Confections.

Guests will also have the opportunity to meet & mingle with a variety of WOO venues including: Worcester Art Museum, Worcester Airport Limousine, Opera Worcester, Music Worcester, DCU Center, Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts, Mechanics Hall, Worcester Center for Crafts, Mass Audubon Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, Salisbury Singers, EcoTarium, Holiday Inn Express Auburn and the Worcester County  Convention & Visitors Bureau.

WOO Card holders get FREE admission to WOOphoria (for them and a guest), as well entry into drawings to win fantastic prizes including: tickets to concert by the Academy of St. Martin in the Field Orchestra, hosted by Music Worcester on March 8th; concert by Young at Heart at Mechanics Hall on March 17th; or the Worcester Chamber Music Society's concert on April 13th.

Initially launched as a means of better engaging Worcester's wealth of college students with the City's dynamic cultural community, the WOO Card program has grown to now feature both a collegiate and public card - offering subscribers special deals and discounts at more than fifty Worcester area destinations including restaurants, retailers, hotels, transportation providers, along with museums, theatres and other cultural attractions. A complete list of participating WOO venues and their deals/discounts offered can be found at www.WOOCard.org

Additionally, card holders earn WOO points each time they visit a participating WOO venue, and earn prizes upon hitting certain point thresholds. WOO Cards are available free of charge to students at Colleges of Worcester Consortium campuses and are available for purchase for $20 for the general public.

WOO Cards will be available for purchase at the door at WOOphoria: A Musical Tasting for just $15. What are you waiting for? The time is now to Save! Swipe! Win! WOO!
