| Key members of the Coalition to Protect Clifton Bay calling on citizens to value their birthright, make a change |
During a radio interview Wednesday on Real Talk with Ortland Bodie, members of the Coalition to Protect Clifton Bay challenged the citizens of The Bahamas to value their natural resources and embrace the opportunity to be on the right side of history by supporting the Coalition's efforts. Environmentalist Samantha Duncombe and Bahamian environmental attorney Romi Ferreira charged the public to make a change by valuing the environment that sustains them.
A major component in affecting change relies heavily on the structuring of legislation.
"We don't have the environmental regulations in place. If we had our Environmental Impact Assessment Act or the regulatory component to the Environmental Health Services Act, these things would effectively govern such activities," said Ferreira.

FEEDBACK - Letters to the Editor LETTER: Bimini - Help us retain and conserve our natural environment |
Yes indeed there many aspects of our national life that are being butchered by greedy foreign interests, and compromised political leaders.
Bimini is in the throes of the Cappo group creating a cement world casino paradise, and real estate bonanza, smack in the middle of our mangroves, sea grass, inter-coastal wetlands, creeks and sounds of Davis Bank.
The pristine East Wells, Coppice which have supplied green space of exquisite flora fauna and fish, of all description is ear marked for dredging and refilling. The entire ecosystem has been compromised already. The protection provided by the 30 ft. tall mangroves will expose North Bimini flooding.
The new home owners will be able to fish when they get tired of golfing and casino gambling. They will be able to fish without limits and the remaining stock will dwindle.

FEATURE STORY: Students meet Fabien Cousteau in efforts to restore damaged Exuma reef |
In the wake of damage to a reef in the Exumas caused by a vessel which ran aground recently, noted French oceanographic explorer Fabien Cousteau teamed up with officials to restore that vital resource of the ocean.
And, at the focus of this effort is a group of students who are members of the Bahamas National Trust Discovery Club, and were given the opportunity to meet the French aquatic filmmaker and explore the beauty of Exuma's waters.
Cousteau is a son of Jean-Michel Cousteau and grandson of famous oceanographic explorer and environmentalist Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who visited Andros in 1970 to explore and film the Andros Blue Holes.
On Saturday, April 20, 2013 the group of 14 students of St Andrews Anglican School, through snorkelling, interacted with Cousteau and members of his Plant A Fish organisation, the Bahamas National Trust, the Ministry of Tourism and others, experience the underwater environment and learn the importance of restoring the damaged reef.
