August 23, 2012-Detroit: Curves will take center stage for an entire weekend at the International Fuller Woman Network’s Plus Empowerment Weekend in Detroit, Michigan September 21- 23, 2012 at the Hotel St. Regis in Detroit, Michigan.

Executive Producer, Cassandra Jones-McBryde recently announced that the traditionally one day event reserved for the Fuller Woman Expo is now expanding to three days, kicking off Friday September 21st, with the first ever Plus Biz Connect Networking Event where those in attendance will be able to learn about how to connect to the plus consumer.

The Plus Empowerment Weekend features a roster of plus size women in entertainment, activism, journalism and modeling. “I have been throughly enriched from producing the event for the past 4 years. We are excited about what we have in store. From our kick off networking event to, Curves and Comedy Show hosted by Erica Watson, to our Keynote speaker Kim Coles. this expo will truly be amazing!” says, Jones-McBryde.

During the second day of the Plus Empowerment Weekend, The International Fuller Woman Network will host it’s 4th Expo in Detroit, Michigan.  Held in the Grand Ballroom at the Hotel St. Regis, women, men and children are invited to participate and engage in inspiring dialogue with our Keynote Speaker Comedienne Kim Coles.  The 2012 featured model Allison McGevna will host the Plus Modeling 101 Workshop.  Witness plus size fashion from various parts of the world during the Curves In Motion Fashion Showcase hosted by Erica Watson and go shopping with vendors that cater to your curves.

Later that night the fun continues during the Curves & Comedy Show.  The Fuller Woman Expo presents a fabulous night of comedy featuring our favorite curvy girls of stage and screen.  The mistress of ceremonies, Erica Watson will be joined by comedienne’s Shanie D, Crystal P. and headliner Kim Coles. 

Presented by DailyVenusDiva.com, supporters of the plus size movement are invited to the 1st Annual Thrive Awards being held in Hotel St. Regis’ La Musique Restaurant on September 23rd.  DailyVenusDiva.com is an online magazine for plus size women and during the Thrive Awards Luncheon local women will be honored for their unselfish love and dedication toward empowering and celebrating women. 

With the support of national and local celebrities, what began as a one-time event in Toronto, Canada has expanded internationally into a global experience.  "I applaud and support this movement. The mission of the Fuller Woman Expo is to empower the plus-size woman to recognize her internal and external beauty; to educate and motivate through workshops and seminars,while providing information on the products and/or services available to them through various companies across the world.

Throughout its history, the Expo has featured an array of speakers including the late plus size model Mia Amber,   Full Figured Fashion Week’s Executive Producer Gwen DeVoe, Judge Karen Mills-Francis of the show Judge Karen and America’s Next Top Model’s Cycle 10 winner Whitney Thomspon, among others.
