Childhood Cancer Action Day
The Sarcoma Foundation of America had the privilege of joining 280 advocates from 28 states at the Alliance for Childhood Cancer's Childhood Cancer Action Day on Capitol Hill. The goal was to urge Congress to step up and make childhood cancer a national priority.

Legislators were encouraged to support the Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access, and Research (STAR) Act, a bill expected to be introduced soon.  This legislation aims to improve efforts to identify and track childhood cancer incidences, improve the quality of life for

survivors, ensure expanded access

policies, and identify

opportunities to expand the research of therapeutics for childhood cancers.   Advocates also encouraged legislators to support increased funding for the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute.

SFA Grants image

The SFA earlier this spring awarded 10 research grants, each worth $50,000, to researchers across the United States who have made it their mission to study sarcoma.  "The SFA congratulates our 2015 research grant recipients.  We applaud the important work that they are doing and thank them for their dedication to find new and innovative therapies for sarcoma patients," said SFA Chief Executive Officer Bert E. Thomas IV, PhD.  "The research that they are conducting is laying the foundation to cure this insidious cancer in our lifetime."

Sarcoma Awareness Month Petition

The Sarcoma Foundation of America needs your help to bring much needed awareness to sarcoma.  A petition asking the Obama Administration to officially recognize July as Sarcoma Awareness Month has been created on WhiteHouse.gov.
Please take a moment to sign this petition and help us send the message that more attention needs to be given to the needs of the entire sarcoma community.  Once you have signed, please forward this link to your friends, families, supporters, and other sarcoma advocates and ask them to do the same.  You can share the petition on social media or even blog about the effort as a way of bringing attention to this effort.
