The Sarcoma Foundation of America would like to thank Eva Sheppard for her dedication and commitment to raising sarcoma awareness in her school and community.

Iowa Chapter Fundraiser
The SFA would like to thank Lisa Gutierrez, the Iowa state chapter leader, for her dedication and commitment to raising sarcoma awareness, and for issuing the Cure Sarcoma Iowa Fundraising Challenge.
Monna's Heart

 

Monna Jones, who was diagnosed and has been battling pulmonary artery sarcoma since 2009, turned 50 in July.  In honor of her birthday, as well as Sarcoma Awareness month,  

 

Monna hosted an amazing birthday celebration with friends and family,  and asked that individuals donate to the Sarcoma Foundation of America  in lieu of birthday gifts. During the, event the beautiful Monna's Heart quilt, which was donated to the event, was raffled off to a lucky winner.   

  
Find a Cure for Sarcoma

The SFA would like to thank Kelley Frey for hosting the Find a Cure for Sarcoma fundraiser. Kelley's, fundraiser honors her mothers legacy and brought a necessary awareness about sarcoma and the need for research.

 

Bud's Run

The Sarcoma Foundation of America would like to extend a special thank you Sharon Swanson and her team for planning, organizing, and delivering a wonderful 11th Annual Bud's Run 5K event. Bud loved to run and to race and he loved coaching runners. Bud's Run is a joyous gathering of runners, friends of runners, and those who understand that life is precious and deserves celebration every day.

The run was held on June 28, 2014, in loving memory of her dear husband, Bud Swanson. The event raised has raised nearly $100,000 in its 11 years, which has directly benefited sarcoma cancer research. Sharon has set a great example for each of us who share the goal of finding the cure for this disease.

Thanks so much for your hard work and dedication to finding the cure in our time!

3rd Annual New Jersey Car Show for Cure 




The Sarcoma Foundation of America would like to extend a special thank you to Jim and Eileen Schnapp and their committee for planning, organizing, and delivering an outstanding 3rd Annual Car Show for Sarcoma Cure.

The event was held on July 26, 2014, to honor the legacy and memory of their son Derek who lost his battle with sarcoma at the age of 16.   Jim, Eileen, and the planning committee has set a great example for each of us who share the goal of finding the cure for this disease.

 

Thanks so much for your hard work and dedication to finding the cure in our time!

 
10th Annual NEHDS Golf Classic

Each year NEHDS  gathers its network together for a day of golf with family and friends to raise sarcoma awareness in their community and funding for research. Many thanks to NEHDS for the continued support of the over the years and for the dedication and commitment to find the cure in our time.  

Climb Kilimanjaro for a Cure: In Memory of David Brenneman
The Sarcoma Foundation of America would like to thank Mina Brenneman and all those that supported the Climb Kilimanjaro for a Cure fundraising campaign. Mina's husband, David, battled valiantly Leiomyosarcoma, for 15 months.

After David's passing, Mina decided to honor David's legacy and to carry out their original plan and attempt to climb Kilimanjaro in August 2014. She summited the Uhuru Peak on Aug. 24, which would have been their 12th wedding anniversary. Mina said, " I know in my heart that David was with me every step of the way. This trek was in memory of his invincible spirit."




University of Kentucky 3 on 3 Cure Sarcoma Basketball Tournament 

The SFA would like thank Torey Anderson and the University of Kentucky's student planning committee for all the their dedication and commitment to raising sarcoma awareness. Great job on another amazing 3 on 3 Cure Sarcoma Basketball Tournament! You all are making an impact in the fight against sarcoma.



  
 
4th Annual Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma 5K Run/Walk
 
The Sarcoma Foundation of America would like to extend a special thank you to Sue Suit and the Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma committee team for planning, organizing, and delivering an outstanding 4th Annual Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma 5K Run/Walk.

The run, held on July 12, 2014, and has raised over $160,000 this year, which will directly benefit sarcoma cancer research. Sue and the Pittsburgh planning committee have set a great example for each of us who share the goal of finding the cure for this disease.

7th Annual Mary Beth Knox Birdie Tourney


On March 27, 2007, Mary Beth lost her fight with Sarcoma at the age of 22. She asked her family to have a golf tournament to raise money for others diagnosed with the disease. The "Birdie Tourney" is now in its seventh year.

The SFA would like to thank Mary Jo and the entire Knox family for their continued support and dedication honor Mary Beth's memory and to raise awareness and funding for sarcoma research.


2nd Annual Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma Golf Outing 
Many thanks to Rhett and Carol Crooks for hosting the 2nd Annual  Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma Golf outing.  The SFA appreciates all that you do to raise sarcoma awareness.

Interested in holding a fundraising event?  Contact SFA Chapter Manager Patrice Guzman at pguzman@curesarcoma.org or 301-253-8687.

She will help you get started and answer any questions you may have.  The SFA has tools that you can use, as well as guidelines and suggestions, that will help make the most of your fundraising activities.

Because of the grassroots nature of the SFA, we are rely on your local ingenuity to develop ideas for fundraising for sarcoma research. Rest assured that we will help facilitate your efforts so that you can have a successful event!  Possible fundraising ideas include a cocktail reception, happy hour, wine tasting, bowling tournament, lemonade stand, garage sale, car wash, local run/walk, golf tournament, or gala.
