Alliance for Childhood Cancer Faces of Childhood Cancer Project
If a child in your life has been touched by childhood sarcoma, please consider taking part in the Alliance for Childhood Cancer's "Faces of Childhood Cancer" project. We want legislators to recognize that childhood cancer goes beyond statistics by showing them the faces of our children. The "Faces of Childhood Cancer" Project was created in order to share their stories with legislators during advocacy meetings to be held in June.

Thank you, Dr. Richard Riedel!
The Sarcoma Foundation of America would like to thank Dr. Richard Riedel for delivering an informative presentation on the "Current and Future Treatment Options for Advanced Soft Tissue Sarcoma." Dr. Riedel kicked off the first of the SFA Empowering Patient's webinar series. SFA is always looking for innovative methods to disseminate relevant information to patients, family members, and medical professionals that know first-hand the challenges of sarcoma.

If you missed this webinar, you can listen to the recorded copy here.

Visit the SFA website at www.curesarcoma.org to view upcoming SFA webinar topics.
John Green - World Cup Fundraiser
The Fault in Our Stars pic
John Green, the author of the The Fault in Our Stars, is holding an incredible World Cup fundraiser through the Foundation to Decrease Worldsuck that benefits the Sarcoma Foundation of America.

The Fault in Our Stars is
a book about two teenage cancer patients, one of whom has osteosarcoma.  A movie based on the book is being released on June 6.  Watch the official movie trailer here.

Check out John's video about the fundraiser, then vote for which team you want John and his brother Hank to support in the FIFA World Cup by donating at least $1.

For every dollar donated, John will match it with $3!
Thank You, Amanda Elbassiouny,
Run with the Butterflies!
The Sarcoma Foundation of America would like to extend a special thank you to 14-year-old Amanda Elbassiouny for planning, organizing, and delivering a wonderful inaugural "Run with the Butterflies 5K" event.

The run was held on May 4, 2014, in loving memory of her dear friend, Allison Valverde, who received her angel wings in April of 2012. The event raised over $6,000, which will directly benefit sarcoma cancer research. Amanda has set a great example for each of us who share the goal of finding the cure for this disease.

Thanks so much for your hard work and dedication to finding the cure in our time!

Maire's Journey
I would like to introduce Keith Famie to the SFA Family. Keith is an award-winning documentary director whose next project is about a sarcoma patient. As his website explains, "Maire's Journey" is a "90-minute, emotionally touching documentary story that follows the final months of a 24-year old cancer patient, Maire Kent (pronounced "Mary"), and the fulfillment of her last wish for her ashes to travel to the ocean in a custom built sailboat hand-crafted by a blind carpenter."

Keith has asked that we share the following letter with everyone as he is keen to help the SFA fight sarcoma through disease awareness and fundraising for research.

Bert Thomas, CEO, Sarcoma Foundation of America

Share Your Story - Wednesday Warrior
Wed Warrior pic
Each Wednesday, SFA selects the story of a sarcoma warrior to feature on our online platforms.

Stories can be about your own experience with cancer, or that of a friend, family member, or loved one.

Sharing your story can be such an inspiration to others who are dealing with sarcoma in their own life and remind us all of the urgency to find better treatments in order to make an impact on the devastation that sarcoma cancer brings. Let your experiences help others become involved with raising awareness.
