This May Parent Newsletter is dedicated to the amazing seniors that are graduating this spring as the class of 2014. Being a part of the Luther community is such a unique experience, and leaving, either for the summer or after graduation, can feel bittersweet. As one Facebook friend of mine recently said "The worst part about Luther is having to say goodbye." I know that I will be confronted with similar feelings this time next year. It will be the class of 2015's turn to take a look at all of the amazing memories Luther has helped us make. Please don't hesitate to encourage your student to take in every moment they can--after all, college is a once in a lifetime experience! This newsletter has hopefully captured many of those experiences throughout the year. As I must always say, if you have questions, comments, or concerns, I encourage you to contact us at parentnewsletter@luther.edu

Message from Corey Landstrom, vice president and dean for student life
|
I am looking out my office window and watching preparations for Sunday's Commencement ceremony on the Carlson Stadium field. I am blessed to have such a wonderful view and perspective from where I am writing this brief message. Each day I look out the window, I can set my eyes upon the exact location where the culmination of discipline, dedication, hard work, resilience, and accomplishment is celebrated by and for students.
In the Student Life Office in the Dahl Centennial Union, I placed a picture of a graduation celebration featuring Luther students. This picture occupies a very strategic location. When students are waiting for an appointment, they can look up and see what is intended to be an affirmative vision for their future--one that hopefully helps them commit to their educational goals at Luther. Spotlight On:
The Wellness Program
|
The mission of the Nena Amundson Lifetime Wellness Program is to enhance the personal, professional, and academic well-being of students, faculty, and staff at Luther College by promoting a lifestyle that touches many dimensions of wellness. A collaboration of services and departments on campus provides education, motivation, and guidance to maintain a healthy living environment. These services include fitness classes, nutrition guidance, and the challenge course, just to name a few. The Wellness Program at Luther is also incorporated into a "Fit and Well" class that is a requirement for all Luther students. Since wellness touches so many aspects of a student's life, the wellness program reaches out across many departments and disciplines to help create a healthy support system for everyone.
