For more than 45 years, the City's Community Services Department has coordinated Youth in Government Day, which provides Anaheim high school students with a firsthand look at how city government plays an important role in their daily lives. With upcoming elections, this year's program will partner with the City Clerk's Office and focus on the City's electoral process and voting procedures. This one day event will be held April 23 at City Hall, and offers participating students the opportunity to use actual voting equipment to cast their vote and elect their own Mayor and four Council Members, who will lead a mock city council meeting. Seven students or "candidates", selected from a pool of 40 applicants will deliver brief speeches on the City Council's P21's Initiative to run for the mayoral and council positions. Upcoming Park Enhancements! |
Did you know that in the coming years nearly 20 parks in Anaheim will be enhanced? This includes four new parks and two new dog parks! We believe that recreational play space helps promote the overall social health of our community that is more than 346,000 residents strong. As a part of the City's commitment to creating more park space and improving neighborhoods, a wide variety of park features have been planned to meet the diverse needs of our community. To learn more about which parks throughout our City will be upgraded, visit, anaheim.net/parkupgrades.
In the coming weeks, be on the lookout for large construction-like signs placed at each of these parks. They will give a visual preview of the upcoming park enhancements and their planned completion dates. |
