What does it mean to be generous?

Is it wrong to say that I love Good Friday?  I find that Good Friday, even more than Easter, shows the world just how far God is willing to go to rescue me/humanity/the whole creation really from sin's deadly effects.  Is that why I appreciate it so much?  Or could it be that it is because I realize most profoundly, on Good Friday, that it is Jesus Christ who does the saving maneuvers in my life NOT ME.  Either way, I always leave Good Friday feeling so grateful and at the same time, so much more generous toward other sinners - like me.
So, is it generosity then, over  any other attribute in the Christian life, that shows a believers true understanding of grace; a lived out realization that God accepts those who humbly receive his mercy, not those who believe they can earn it
What is generosity after all?  Is it all about money or is there more to it than that?  I think so and that is why this Sunday will mark the beginning of a new series on the subject.  My prayer is that as we dig deeper into gratitude, we  will each be freed to enjoy a deeper gratitude in our relationship with Jesus Christ, one another and even for.  Do you know anyone who needs to feel the generosity of God's love?  Invite them to church anytime during this series.  It may be just the thing they have been praying for!  Finally, will you pray for me as I prepare the sermon this week and throughout this series?  I hope so!  See, you've already begun the work of "real" generosity!
Blessings, Rev. Ellen
KAPM Breakfast Meeting

All Kannapolis area men and women are cordially invited to attend the quarterly breakfast meeting of the Kannapolis Area Presbyterian Men this Sunday, September 11th, from 8:00 until 9:00 AM in the Bethpage Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.  At 8:00 AM, we shall gather around the tables for a delicious breakfast, accompanied by great fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.  After a brief session, we shall most certainly be blessed by our guest speaker, Mr. Ed Hosack, Executive Director of Cooperative Christian Ministry.  It is always a joy to have Ed in our presence and to hear him bear witness to the many ways God works in our community through CCM.  Please invite your fellow church members, neighbors and friends to join us for this meeting.
