Flowers in the Church This Sunday
The flowers in the Bethpage Presbyterian Church sanctuary this Sunday, June 26th, are given by Jean Brown to the Glory of God and in loving memory of her parents, Capt. James B. Brown, USMC, and Dorothy R. Brown, in honor of what would have been their 70th wedding anniversary, June 30th.

Life Line Screening Coming to BPC
Life Line Screening will offer a preventive health event on Monday, July 18th in the BPC Fellowship Hall. Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, offers affordable, non-invasive and painless health screenings. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to : blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. 1,000 Can Challenge to Benefit CCM's Summer Food Drive
More than one in four children in North Carolina struggle with hunger. During the summer, the struggle for children to find a meal gets even harder, as only one of seven students who receives a free or reduced price lunch during the school year will get lunch on any given summer day. To help combat that issue, Cooperative Christian Ministry will be holding a summer food drive. As part of this food drive, Bethpage Presbyterian Church has elected to participate in the 1,000 Can Challenge, a project being offered to area churches to raise 1,000 cans of food for CCM through their congregations. Canned food items we will be collecting are pork & beans, corn, peas, and green beans. Your food offering may be brought to the church any time through July 31st.

Highlights of April 18, 2016, Stated Meeting of the Session
- A quorum was declared by the moderator, Rev. Ellen Campbell Gardner.
- The meeting was called to order following motion by Dougie Kirkman and seconded by Diane Mullinax. Opening prayer and study by Rev. Ellen Campbell Gardner.
- Agenda was amended and approved.
- Session approved the minutes from the Stated Session Meeting on March 21, 2016, the Called Session Meeting on March 30, 2016, and the Called Session Meeting on April 3, 2016 by motion by Dougie Kirkman and seconded by Carrie Paxton.
- Session reviewed and approved the May 2016 calendar.
- Session reviewed and approved the facilities reservation requests.
- Session approved a request from Beth Ann Blumenberg Hintz (764) to be removed from the membership roll of Bethpage Presbyterian Church.
- Session received the Moderator's report.
- Session approved Nurture Ministry Area ordering a new battery for de-fibular and charging the cost to Property Ministry Area. Motion by Eric McKnight, seconded by Dougie Kirkman.
- Education Ministry Area is investigating "Small Group Sunday School."
- Personnel Ministry Area is reviewing the Personnel SOP, role of Head of Staff, where Historical Committee should be located.
- Session reviewed the March 2016 financial reports.
- Session approved Stewardship Campaign, October 2 - November 6.
- Mission/Evangelism Ministry Area reminded Session of the Blood Drive to be held on May 23, 2016.
- Sergio and Carla Schmidt gave an update on LMCS future and their future plans.
- Property Ministry Area was asked to investigate opening and closing of the Fellowship Hall.
- Update Security protocol.
- Next Session meeting will be Monday, May 16, 2016 at 7:00 PM.
- Closing prayer - The Lord's Prayer.
- Motion to adjourn by Dougie Kirkman, seconded by Carrie Paxton, approved.
