The Unexpected Goodness and Kindness of the Lord

In 1982, Nick Vujicic was born with a rare genetic disorder that caused him to have no arms or legs.  As you can imagine he struggled emotionally and physically to accept his condition.  He tells us, "I choose to live by what the Bible says, which is that God is the answer today, yesterday, and always.  When people read about my life or witness me living it, they are prone to congratulate me for being victorious over my disabilities.  I tell them that my victory came in surrenderIt comes every day when I acknowledge that I can't do this on my own, so I say to God, "I give it to you!"  Once I yielded, the Lord took my pain and turned it into something good . . . He gave my life meaning when no one and nothing else could provide it.  [And] if God can take someone like me, someone without arms and legs, and use me as his hands and feet, he can use anybody.  It's not about ability.  The only thing God needs from you is a willing heart."
How about you?  Do you see the trials in your life as a way for God's goodness to abide and be seen in you?  Do you take unthinkable tragedy and allow God to work it for good in your life and the lives of other.  For Nick it took willing acceptance, surrender even, for him to find the purpose in his life.  Are the "eyes of your heart open" like that to the Holy Spirit's movement?  Will you allow our Risen Lord to take your deepest pain, and in surrender nail it to the cross, "turning it into something good?"  God wants to offer you that great kindness.
Today, Nick Vujicic is an inspiration to all the thousands of people who hear him speak all around the world.  He is an example of the goodness and kindness of the Lord, even, no especially, when everything is turned over in trust and surrender to the limitless love of God.  His victory came in surrender.  Yours will too.

Pentecost Offering - for Children at Risk, Youth and Young Adults

The Pentecost Offering provides a direct way to meet the needs of children at risk, youth, and young adults.  Forty percent of this offering collected at our 9:55 AM worship service this Sunday, May 15th, will be sent to Children's Hope Alliance (formerly known as Barium Springs Home for Children and Grandfather Home for Children.)  Since 1891, this organization has been committed to a safe and nurturing family life for every child.  The remaining 60 percent will go to the General Assembly to provide leadership development opportunities for Presbyterian youth and young adults and support children-at-risk programs at the national level. To learn more about Children's Hope Alliance click on their logo below.
