Identity in Christ
Have you ever been HaCkeD? It doesn't matter how computer-savvy you think you are. If you have an email address, a Facebook account, or anything involving social media, it's likely your privacy had been invaded by someone who "hacked" your password. Thieves who do this seek to steal your identity, your savings, or even your reputation.
This Sunday Pastor Ellen and three of your elders will be in Colorado participating in the Elder Leadership Institute (ELI), funded through a grant from the Presbytery's Committee on Church Development and your pastor's own funds. I have been given the honor of preaching on the BELIEVE series on the chapter Identity in Christ. We will look at passages in the Old and Testaments that reveal God's work of grace in giving each one of us a name. The gracious part is that when God gives us something, no one can take that identity away from us. This grace we describe as "covenant." This is a fundamental point for disciples of Jesus Christ. If God has set the covenant in place, then God also maintains the conditions of the covenant. As a human being this is good news to me, and I hope it is to you! The reason being that each one of us is corrupted by sin. And like a computer our identity can also become compromised; meaning we need the one who wrote our original "code" to provide us a chance to change the password and reclaim our true identity. This true identity we receive from Jesus Christ.
I invite you to read this chapter in advance with me. See how many times God calls those who the world consider passed the age of significance, or passed up because of things that happened to them - and then notice the ways God used those who identified themselves as "Child of the Covenant."
Grace & Peace, Rev. Ernest L. Gardner, III

A Thank You Note from Tom and Margaret Griffin
Dear Bethpage Church Family,
Tom and I owe a debt of gratitude to our loving church family for cards, calls, visits, "cherry pie" and mostly your ongoing prayers for Tom's long journey (and mine) back to good health. He is making slow progress and getting stronger. God showed us the way and we followed. "Thank you" is simply not enough. May God bless each and every one of you with His unending and steadfast love, compassion, strength, courage, and a never ending belief in prayer.
Blessings, Tom and Margaret Griffin

A Stewardship Moment
The Gospel of Luke tells us that Jesus said,
"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap, for the measure you give will be the measure you get back."
