Believing Is Seeing!
Seeing is believing. You have heard that phrase haven't you? Well for those who follow Jesus Christ, the opposite is the true reality of life. Believing is the key to seeing. Knowing the one who is the foundation of all we experience (the Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer of our earthly lives) and hope for (our sure and certain hope of eternal life in the Lord) is the key to the spiritual freedom the world is clamoring to find!
The problem is, we are surrounded by persuasive messages on TV, billboards, even personal tattoos that tell us the opposite. Starting in September, we are going to take time each week to counter those false messages, testing and proving correct Paul's promise that our spiritual freedom and joy come only through, "Faith working through love."
Will you allow your faith to be proven? Perhaps the greatest GIFT you can give yourself (we can offer our church family) is to take the time to discern WHAT we believe as followers of Jesus Christ, see HOW our beliefs change us, so that we can BE the love of Christ in the world; believing as seeing.
Friends, starting on September 16th during the G.I.F.T. program and later on the 20th in worship, we will be starting a journey of faith together, using the BELIEVE curriculum of a study. Won't you join us? I just know that this journey of faith will help us all to see, in deeper, more profound ways, the love and JOY of our salvation. Proving, once and for all, that the Gospel message is not about seeing leading to belief but, in God's infinite wisdom and grace, it is about simply believing and then, by his Holy Spirit, seeing the unending love of God that has saved us. Oh, how good the Lord is! Won't you join me as we allow God's Spirit to bless us all with this newness of sight?
Blessings, Ellen

"Suds of Love" Resumes - Volunteers Needed!
BPC's "Suds of Love" laundromat ministry with Fred L. Wilson Elementary School resumes next month on Thursday, September 17th. We need volunteers to be at Harris Laundromat (1205 West C Street, Kannapolis) on that day from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM and 6:00 until 9:00 PM. If you would be available on that day, please contact Christel Josey (704-706-5752) or Chris Ferguson (704-680-2783). If you can't volunteer on the 17th, but would still like to help, we need donations of quarters and laundry detergent. Thanks for your support!

 College and Military Addresses
We need the addresses of any members of our Bethpage church family who will be in college or serving in the military this year! You may get your address to us by writing it on the Ritual of Friendship pad, e-mailing it to [email protected], or calling the church office (704-933-2209). Please help us keep in touch with these folks while they are away from home!

Thank You Note from Cooperative Christian Ministry
Dear Friends at Bethpage Presbyterian Church,
On behalf of Cooperative Christian Ministry, I would like to thank you for sponsoring our Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, June 4th and for the use of your parking area and facilities. Your member turnout was even more fantastic than last year! We were able to serve 6,021 pounds of food to 193 households from Cabarrus and Rowan counties containing 584 persons. The numbers were a great deal less than last year and have been at most of our sites over the last 11 months perhaps due to an improving economy. Despite finishing the line by 11:00 AM, we still were serving families pulling up in the parking lot until 12:00 Noon. Again, thank you for all that you did to make our Mobile Food Pantry a great success! Your facility is a great location to serve citizens of Cabarrus County and surrounding area.
Serving even the least of these,
Barry G. Porter, Food Program Manager
