A Word from Rev. Ellen

Our text for worship this week is Galatians 1:10- 24. It is the first section of Paul's testimony, sometimes called his autobiographical section. (If you are watching the NBC series A.D., every Sunday evening, this section of Saul/Paul's life was the topic of last Sunday's episode.)  So why is Paul sharing his life story with the people of Galatia? To remind them that he does not come to them as just any old person, sharing just another interpretation of the gospel. He comes to them as a man transformed, renewed and called personally by Jesus Christ to share THE gospel. Paul is saying, I have been given Jesus' version of the gospel, unlike the false gospel you are receiving from the Judaizers in Galatia.

This is so important for us to remember today. Which gospel can be trusted - there are so many gospels these days?

The Jesus Christ of scripture, the one witnessed by the disciples, including Paul, can be trusted throughout your day to powerfully free you to move about in this world with the confidence that only Jesus Christ's Spirit allows. WE DON"T HAVE TO SECOND GUESS OURSELVES. Paul is legit!

Live into the power and freedom of Paul's witness. It will carry you through anything you face! ANYTHING!! Allow the Holy Spirit to guide the writing of your story as you follow Jesus Christ's gospel! Share your life's story, your testimony in BOLD print; allow it to be a story that, in the telling, makes you more than worth knowing, that attracts and transforms others by the power of Christ's Spirit!

Blessings! Rev. Ellen

Barium Springs & Grandfather Home Have Joined Forces!

Two of North Carolina's most historic and prominent child welfare organizations have teamed up and now fall under a new umbrella name. In April 2014, Barium Springs and Grandfather Home for Children merged, making the combined agency one of the largest child service providers in North Carolina. Over the past year, Barium Springs and Grandfather Home operated together, but under two separate names. On March 30, 2015, the two agencies began operating as one cohesive organization under the name "Children's Hope Alliance." Bethpage PC has supported both of these organizations for many years. Forty percent of our Pentecost Offering (just received last Sunday) is sent to Barium Springs each year. We will receive our Father's Day Offering for Grandfather Home Campus of Children's Hope Alliance (formerly known as Grandfather Home for Children) next Sunday, June 21st at the 9:55 AM worship service.

Would You Like to Place Flowers in the Church?
Would you like to place flowers in the Bethpage church sanctuary for the Sunday morning worship service? Such floral beauty praises the life and resurrection Jesus has so freely given us. With your generosity, worship at Bethpage truly reflects our praise for the living word of God, as well as remembers a loved one or friend who has passed away, or honors a loved one or a special moment in your life. Some suggested days to recognize are birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, baptisms, holidays, etc. If you would like to commemorate a special occasion in this way, please sign up on the sheet in the hallway between the Sunday school office and the sanctuary, where you may add your name for a particular date, or contact Margaret Griffin at 704-932-7418. Colorful floral arrangements are only $33.11 and if you leave the flowers at the church or allow them to be distributed to our local retirement communities following the worship service, you will be bringing joy to many others AND your gift is tax deductible. Please remember to contact Donna in the church office at least a week before your reserved Sunday, to let her know how you would like your gift of flowers acknowledged in The Beth Page.
