March 1, 2015 | Second Sunday in Lent Quick Links
|

Lent is upon us! This past Tuesday morning six members of BPC traveled through snow and ice to attend the first Lenten study on Paul's great OPUS, the book of Romans. Last Sunday we began a new prayer group that will meet each Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:35 AM, in the sanctuary, to pray for Kannapolis and Bethpage's ministry. Why all these new endeavors in Lent? Because by its very nature, Lent is a brief time when we can put extra effort into preparing our hearts for Jesus' eternal OPUS; Easter: the moment of his eternally freeing resurrection.
Are you taking these six weeks to look at your life anew, to clear away the things that have so cluttered your life, both physically and spiritually?
The true wonder of our Lord is that whether we are aware of His purpose and presence in our lives, God is there, Christ's mercy and grace are waiting for us, The Holy Spirit's guidance is ever tenacious and faithful. God is always there for his faithful; those of us who weave in and out of faith's focus. This pattern used to be called "back sliding." I just call it the realities of sin and how sin affects my ability to perceive and rest in God's, day in, day out, faithfulness, God's eternal presence; proof positive of my need for a savior.
So I will ask the question again, "How are you using these six weeks of Lent to see you life anew, clearing away the things that clutter your life, both physically and spiritually?
DO NOT LET THIS OPPORTUNITY PASS! See this Lent as a spring cleaning, an inventory of the truths in your life. Free yourself from the things that do not bring life. Return to the place of your grace, your peace, your vitality - a renewing time for your faith - Lent. It's not too late to join the Bible study on Romans every Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Maybe you would like an evening time - let me know? Working??? - It's not too late to attend G.I.F.T. on Wednesday night at 5:45, not too late to show up to church just a bit earlier - to pray for our beloved community at 8:00 AM. Not been in church in a while? We miss you! Point is, it's not too late to make a new start in any area of your life. Not too late to experience anew the dearest gift, the greatest treasure; Jesus Christ. After all, new beginnings are what Lent is all about. Blessings, Rev. Ellen

If you have a CONCERN or JOY you would like to share during the Sunday morning worship service, please fill out the "Prayer Request" card located in the pew holders, pass it to the center aisle and an usher will collect them during the Prayer of Preparation.
