A Letter from Rev. Ellen regarding Consecration Sunday

Dear Members and Cherished Friends of Bethpage Presbyterian Church,

You are by now surely aware that Sunday, November 9, 2014, is Consecration Sunday for our congregation. We believe that you have sufficient concern for your spiritual growth and the mission and ministries of our congregation to attend the two special events of this day - Sunday morning worship, led by guest leader Ed Hosack, and the Celebration Luncheon immediately following worship. This is a catered meal, so we need reservations for each person. If you have not finalized plans to attend these two events, please do so immediately.

Our goal is to have every member and regular worship attendee present. If you did not make a reservation during the last two weeks, please let us know that you will be present by contacting Dennis Graybeal, Consecration Sunday chairperson, at 704-932-1213 or dgraybeal@ctc.net. The effectiveness of our church's mission and ministries next year depends on your initiative and dedication. Please make whatever sacrifices are necessary to be present on November 9th.

Your servant in Christ, Rev. Ellen

Where Do I Start?

Last week in The Story, God told Jacob and the rest of the Israelites to be strong, very courageous, keep the word of God on their lips, pray and have their identity in God alone.  How does a person keep the Word of God on their lips?  Are you someone who has memorized scripture?  Yes?  No?  If you answered no, you may not know exactly where to start.  Try starting with this list of ten scriptures that are foundational to any Christian.  With these scriptures on your lips, you will be on your way to living into God's directions to Joshua and the Israelites AND TO YOU.

Enjoy and Blessings, Rev. Ellen

Coffee Perks - "Depression in Seniors"

Coffee Perks will be held on Thursday, November 6th, 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the BPC Session Room.  Nancy Woodard, Mental Health Association of Central Carolinas, Inc., Education Program Coordinator, will be our guest speaker.  Depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods. True clinical depression is a mood disorder that interferes with everyday life for weeks or longer. In some cases, if not properly treated, this can lead to suicidal thoughts. Please attend this event to learn causes and symptoms to be aware of, along with treatments for this disorder. We welcome you to invite others you believe may have an interest in our monthly programs. Refreshments will be provide by Comfort Keepers In-home Care.

Please RSVP by Wednesday, November 5th to annmeasmer@comfortkeepers.com or 704-640-5152.
