Get Involved in The Story of God
|
What do you see when you open your Bible to the beginning and then flip all the way to the end? The first words found in Genesis 1:1 read: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Then, if you turn all the way to the back of the book, Revelation 21:1, you find, "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away . . ."
In the beginning God is creating the heavens and the earth. At the end he is creating a new heaven and a new earth. So the big question is this: "What on earth happened between the beginning and the end of the Bible?" If you can answer that question you will have uncovered the one seamless story of God.
Why not read God's story with your family this year? Studies indicate if the extent of your child's and grandchildren's exposure to things of the faith is only a weekly visit to church or Sunday School, the likelihood is very great that when he/ she graduates and leaves home their relationship with the Lord will turn cold. However, if you as a parent or grandparent engaging your children/ grandchildren in the experience of reading and discussing the Bible, chances go up astronomically that they will remain strong in their faith after leaving home. THIS WAS MY EXPERIENCE!
Get involved in The Story of God. It will forever transform your life and your family's life. Every day God is seeking to guide you, forming sentences that flow into paragraphs that over time write the chapter of your life -- a life committed to knowing him better. Will you choose today to take your life chapter and make it a part of the Big Story of what God is doing on earth? (The Story starts Wednesday, September 10th during G.I.F.T. and Sunday September 14th during Sunday school and worship!)

Volunteers Needed for Our Children and Youth!
|
The Christian Education Committee needs volunteers for the 2014-2015 year. We need Youth Sunday School Teachers and Helpers, Children's Worship Leaders and Helpers, and Nursery attendants for the 9:55 AM Worship Service. Our plan is to return to the one month at a time scheduling format to coordinate with all the other volunteer needs during our services and programs. As we embark on a church wide use of "The Story," we have wonderful materials ready to train our children in this weekly program in Sunday School, Children's Worship and Senior Highs. We need your help, so please contact Carrie Paxton or Roger Hamilton. Thank you, Christian Education Committee back to top |
Stop Hunger Now Packing Event - September 20th
|
WORLD HUNGER FACTS
-
Undernutrition contributes to 2.6 million deaths of children under five each year - one third of the global total.
-
Nearly 870 million people across the globe will go to bed hungry tonight, 200 million of them children.
-
Undernourishment kills more people every year than malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS combined.
Please join Bethpage Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall as we sponsor a Stop Hunger Now event on Saturday, September 20th from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 15 years. Their meal packaging program is a fun, hand's on mission project that is suitable for all ages. The assembly process combines rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix including 21 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packages. These meal packages are shipped around the world to support school feeding programs and crisis relief. The food stores easily, transports quickly and has a shelf-life of two years. Stop Hunger Now meal bags are often reused as a way to serve the meals, to hold leftovers for children to take home, as containers for water and even for planting seedlings! Come join us and enjoy a time of fellowship and helping others!
